I think that there are many opportunities, you just have look for them and also be patient. My colleagues who did microbiology at Chiromo are in very diverse fields. One is brewing beer for us at Eabl (using the choicest barley and yeast), another is a pathologist at Kari, another one is working for the UN controlling vectors and diseases at one of the refugee camps, another one is working at Kemri, another one a medical Rep. for a pharmaceutical co., another one is teaching at one of the universities after finishing his masters and another is doing his PhD in microbiology in the US. If you got good grades try applying to US universities for MSc since they have scholarships/studentships especially for science students.
