What was wrong with KANU? Why do we always have to see new political parties each time we have an election? Is there a law to govern this? It seems its a thing of convenience to set up a party, load it will all sorts of recycled politicians, get into power, rule, then discard the party and start all over again?

I am not holding my breath. In fact I have lost ALL faith in the system in Kenya. Even Karua and Kenneth - they have each done the math and trust me they will go to bed with those they have spoken against. Right now they will ask you to focus on issues - but they will ally themselves with sullied politicians and parties to make the numbers.

I am not voting this time around...I have Hobsons choice. We all do but some of us do not know it since we are deeply ensconced in tribal cocoons or mired in ignorance. We still look at the individuals and not the policies or manifestos. We look to tribe and numbers.

Frankly speaking there's no party in Kenya that holds any longstanding ideals/policy objectives etc etc - we are still in the stoneage as far as political idealism is concerned.

I looked at the whole machinery that had been assembled to perpetuate this "I believe" show and felt a growing sense of apathy - same script, same cast, different "party"....

Let's not fail to see the writings on the wall - the ruling cast will once again spit at our faces,and the well oiled political machineries will win the day...and status quo will prevail.d'oh!


I agree smano - and hardly surprised at your apathy. Let it not be our votes that put these people in power. Others will argue that it is out votes that will keep them out of power....but do we have any good choices for 2012/2013? Quite frankly I do not see any - at least in two senses:

1 - Any NATIONAL candidate who has hope of succeeding without allying themselves to the rotten ones to attain the desired numbers.
2 - Any national candidate who has hope of succeeding without leaning too much on tribe to attain numbers. I am not saying one should not be from the top 4-5 tribes - just that they will invariably use their tribe numbers to get at least 20-30% of their individual votes.

Seriously though, now that Okampo wants to postpone trials until March 2013, how does this affect the elections? Where does that leave the Uhuruto Union? Who's ego will allow one to step down?..clearly UK had more flamboyance in his launch than the URP candidate (but then again, that's not what we need as a country)...

bt deep down i kept asking myself,when will we get to issues based politics entrenched in parties,and not individuals,who are out to run after their dreams instead of kenyan dream.

Are you a Tunapenda Ndom+Alcohol since your opinion must be driven by the two ingredients?

Just state your position not other people more so other communities.

As for me i will vote not
