I believe back in 2003, RAO was the minister in-charge who set the ball rolling, when he brought down houses for the Northern bypass and there was grumbling that he is destroying people's hard work...There is no contradiction here!!...as indicated, Franklin Bett is the current Roads Minister and we know who he reports to...that is Kibaki and possibly why we've seen roads heading to Central expanded (this is where you will talk about cabinet decisions etc)...it will do good for the trade in the area, and access to the airport etc....

Enyewe wewe ni a typical RAO sycophant. You do realize that its the Chinese who have been MK's major strategic dev partners and are the ones funding all these projects. From figures i obtained elsewhere China pumped a total investment of Sh40.2 billion into Kenya, while developed economies such as Germany, Canada, Israel and Italy invested less than Sh500 million in Kenya last year. No wonder they've been complaining ati he's become extremely difficult to reach or he declined an invitation to visit the United Kingdom.....he's given them a cold shoulder, no a** L****. Look at the Roads that have been constructed or are under construction around the country, are they all in Central Kenya? Its only a fool who would criticize construction of Thika Rd Superhighway.

Given the circumstances i'd say MK has done fairly good but like someone has said he has not been perfect. We cannot single him out on mambo ya corruption, tribalism and all that....NARC and the current govt have all been some sort of coalitions, i think its only in Kenya where we criticize individuals instead of putting the entire administration to task. Look at the leading candidates you have now, they've all held powerful positions in govt....ati agents of change ABK!

Cronyism is still a form of corruption and is in no way a measure of eradicating tribalism.

STOP right.... at the sentence highlighted in red.

MOST of these developments are financed by the government of Kenya!

The only road that I know of financed by the Chinese was the expansion of Uhuru highway.

All the others are financed through LOANS acquired from international development banks; e.g., Thika Road is financed by a LOAN from the African Development Bank [85%] and direct cash from GoK [15%].

The LOANS will be repaid by GoK - they are NOT donations!

Time must come when we start taking pride of the achievements we have made.

Thanks you chiaroscuro!!!

....and people don't realize the govt debt has been on a steady rise!!!!

......when it is good it has to be Kibaki (Ministry of roads that has been managed by Raila and his allies for 8 of Kibaki's 10 year rule)......when it is bad then it must be ODM and Raila as the problem ala the NHIF scandal!!!!

@ Chiaroscuro....Please give us a link of who is funding the Eastern, Northern and Southern bypasses. I think you need to look at the number of projects funded by China and they amount they've donated since 2008 to understand what i mean....but i agree with you there's a lot to be proud of even with the problems we have with our politicians.

@ Mc Reggae....We all know who runs govt ministries in Kenya and its surely not the Ministers.

Soon, the old man will leave the reigns of power. A few years later we'll look at his tenure objectively. I may not be anywhere near the Kitchen cabinet but at least I spotted some opportunities arising out of infrastructural developments that MK concentrated on, by the way anyone could have taken such opportunities.

Assuming the one who forms the next govt decides to develop the infrastructure deep inside the Rift Valley or some place in Western, I'll not complain, I'll just position myself there and gain too. Either way, my mindset is on gaining from wherever, whether in Western Kenya, Central or Coast. After all, MK does not know me personally whether I come from his village or not. Neither will the next president know me personally or give me handouts.

I like how Raila people here are contradicting themselves. On one hand, there are no good roads in Kenya, roads construction is only in Central Kenya and financing for the roads was done through expensive loans. On the other hand, a good job has been done on roads and all credit goes to Raila!

Prophet hoodrat, I wish I could separate your prophecy from wishful thinking.

@rat, you had used the future tense in your comment, thus it has to be a prediction or a prophecy. You sound happy to see the roads in a mess as it suits your political position! Read through the link you provided and you will see why roads are being washed away.
