KCB should be first. There has been an aggressive campaign to get people to buy EB shares. Why is that so? I see it everywhere.....and this is just one such article.

As much as KCB seems to earn huge profits they are not even scraping their full potential.. Banks like equity are very efficient in their operations hence the high ranks...

Put simply if KCB was as efficient as Equity or DTK we would be talking of 21billion PBT last year..

Good work, obviously took your time, how come there is no mention of I&M, CBA and Citi banks

Well @hoover wrote: "I've put the NSE-listed banks through the ranking model."

Neither I&M, CBA and Citi banks are listed on the NSE.

FYI: I&M did a private placement in Dec 2010 & is likely to list at some point (when DEG & PROPARCO want to cash in) but will it be in 2012 or (post-elections) 2013?

last month sib gave a valuation update on kenya banking sector. They said "KCB remains our preferred large-cap (39.9% upside ) while NIC is our preferred small-cap (+116.3% upside)."

I&M tops all tier 2 banks. It leads NIC, DTB, CFC, CBA et al. Word has it that they are eying SS/RW. Waiting for their Q1 results

What is a Tier-1 Bank?
What is a Tier-2 Bank?
What is a Tier-3 Bank?

Please provide facts/links or other info that verifies the answer (rather than an opinion).

Is it based on asset size?
Who determines it?
What is the cut-off (range) for each tier?

Thanks. I see it seems to be 'market share' that designates the 'tier'.
