"This ongoing wildcat is an excellent start to our exploration campaign. The net pay encountered so far in Ngamia-1 is more than double that encountered in any of our East African exploration wells to date. We now look forward to the drilling and evaluation of the deeper potential of this well and the acceleration of our seismic and drilling campaigns in the region, " said Angus McCoss, Exploration Director at Tullow Oil Plc.

The company announced that the Ngamia-1 exploration well has now been drilled to an intermediate depth of 1,515 metres and the total net oil pay encountered so far has increased to an excess of 100 metres across multiple reservoir zones.

I'm being tempted to get into NSE at this rate, global econ eurozone risk fundies and CBK tight rates be damned...

I have no otherwise but to play this from the nse.
I have a feeling by the time tullow is done exploring in Kenya. ALOT of oil will be discovered. this is only a tip of the iceberg

AOC stock up by 400%.

Lucky were they!
But i can help drawing the parallel between the NSE and global oil prices.if only the govt deals wisely,NSE will pay handsomely in less than 10 years

Simba’s work programme on Block 2A in Kenya is progressing well and early assessment of the existing data has identified two exploration leads on the acreage already. While we await the publication of a CPR and indications of the resource potential of Block 2A, Simba will conduct a passive seismic survey, expected to
commence at the end of May. The company has current cash in excess of C$3.0m which puts it in a strong position to accelerate the current stage of its Kenyan exploration programme over the next six months.

The scope of this survey covers 750km2 with 250 measuring points on 2km spacing to identify and
evaluate areas with hydrocarbon potential on Block 2A. The acquisition work in the field is expected to take 30 days with a report due within 30-45 days upon completion of field work.
The planned survey will cover a portion of both basins; the Mandera and the Anza, within Block 2A.
Simba has already identified two exploration leads on its licence by re-working existing 2D seismic data. These leads will receive the immediate focus of the survey along with any additional leads identified from ongoing 2D re-interpretation.
The potential areas identified will most likely be further evaluated by conventional 3D or 2D seismic and/or gravity gradiometer prior to selecting a drill site.

Oil exploration firm headed to Nyakach next

Tullow Oil Plc is now set to move to Nyakach in Kisumu County barely six months after discovering oil in Turkana.

Officials from the company were recently in Nyakach, an area they suspect has massive oil deposits, to start exploring the commodity.
Sources told The Standard that the company intends to carry out drilling tests in the area before the end of the year.

Area District Commissioner Chagawa wa Chagawa confirmed on Tuesday on receiving officials from the company, saying the Government was also doing a geographical mapping in parts of the district.

“Tullow officials will be here in a month’s time to do one to two things,” he said.

Area MP Polyns Ochieng said locals must be involved before the company starts its full operations in the area. He said Nyakach is one of the areas geographically listed under Block 13T. He said residents of Nyalunga and Bolo villages have for the last few months been getting oil floating in water.

Ngamia-1 Drilling Update

25 May 2012 – Tullow Oil plc (Tullow) this morning hosted a meeting with certain investors in Nairobi. During the course of this meeting it was inadvertently indicated that the Ngamia-1 well was drilling into the primary target and that initial results appeared to indicate that the well had intersected further oil bearing sands.
