He hasent done much to stop corruption, tribalism or create more jobs. But surely you must feel for the thousands of poor kids who can now access FPE.... its not perfect but there is a poor bright kid somewhere who now believes that despite all odds one day he/she will amount to something. That for me......IS ENOUGH REASON TO CELEBRATE THE OLD MAN! poor bright kid...surely you must have tracked even one such kid all through, yes? Then you can point to evidence that he was poor yet has managed to compete successfully against the rich because of fre.

For me the biggest failure is in his handling of the violence in 07 and 08 Just think of the dozens of well educated Luos, Kurias, Swahili, Borana etc being by passed as someone from Mt Kenya got a big job as PS or head of parastatal. You cannot just ignore the impact of this on national unity. It easily gave fodder to the twin fires of ODM popularity and ethnic hatred that almost ground this country to a halt in 2007. You cannot just be good on the economic front and hope people will be happy with whoever you give positions to. You've got to be fair or at least appear fair!! We have Luo, Swahili, Luhya, Kamba ... PS's and heads of parastatals - its not as if all senior positions are heald by people from a certain community, just the ones that appear vital. All over the world those who win elections give the most important dockets to individuals they trust.I would have an issue if those individuals were not qualified. If RAO or Mudavadi or whoever becomes president gave vital positions to people he trusts as long as they are qualified, I woudn't see any big deal in that.national unity is always messed by politicians not appointments. Well I would rather have a good economy than appear to have fairness, coz there will always be complaints - If I have a market for my produce and I buy fuel at an affordable price, If my family security is guaranteed and my children have a good education .... then I don't care about the tribes of the people making it happen. This is the height of arrogance, you are assuming that only the people close to Kibaki can properly manage the economy. Please read through my whole post again, seems you missed some parts.

People are really funny, you wait for three or so years and people from Gatanga where Peter Kenneth comes from will be all praise. Somewhere else where CDF money was misused, some very people will vote in the same fellows because he will have come over with some packets of Unga. They will wait for 5 more years and continue complaining. Then some people somewhere will start saying ati the current president has done nothing for their people and their area has been neglected. Everything starts from the local level, today most people may argue that central is more developed than say Nyanza, most of the development happened during Moi’s regime not because Moi liked Central but because of central leaders themselves. An area that has electricity today is because there is a tea or a coffee factory nearby and people neighboring the factories had to pay to get connected to the grid. Kibaki might have done something; say around 85 % but most Kenyans were expecting a 100% president. Am waiting to see what will happen now that there will be county governments, come five years people will be looking for someone to blame.
Just wondering , I visited a place in Muranga between Kiriaini and Othaya where they have mukurwe wa nyagathanga, the road there is not that good but I found almost all homes there are “stone “ built despite not being that big. I think 9 in every 10 homes are “nyumba za mawe” not like those we see in Budalangi (no offence). What went on here?

I shall honorably excuse your misdemeanor on lack of travel, fact, coupled with a lot of ignorance by choice, and to a large extent the kind of talk that went around at your dinner table as you grew up. Id written a longer rejoinder but cooled of in the process thus im content with the first paragraph..

my two cents
If you have been holed up in grandeur and accuse others of expecting more from MK, then you are just as ignorant as a butcher-mans feline...
if you are holed up in grandeur and see nothing to write home about MK then you are indeed one spoilt butchers cat.
If you are in govt friendly regions and dont see what MK has done... you are a lazy blind idiot..
If you are in the peripheries of the govt, and by govt i mean kitchen cabinet and resource distribution, and you dont see anything to write home about MK then you are very right to hold your opinion and rant.

Is there any one of you whose financial status has not significantly improved during his tenure? I know you'll say you worked hard for it, which is true, but that can only mean that the environment was conducive for growth. All you can do is all you can do; but all you can do is enough!
