I just tried airtel unlimited for the first time, it works well if it is not on edge. I have not downloaded big files, just small pdf's, not bigger than 8 Mb. I have noticed that in many occasions, the network drops to edge, but if it is on HSDPA or WCDMA you can get just over 1 Mbps, while sometimes it stays between 300 and 500 Kbps, sometimes slower, I do not know what we are supposed to expect from it, it’s just fluctuating. To get out of edge, I’d have to disconnect, sometimes completely, then reconnect. I think that it can go faster if not on the unlimited. Need others who are on Airtel's unlimited to share their experience, more especially relating to the connection dropping to edge, so that we can know if it is a general or an isolated problem. Fixed the problem with edge by telling the modem to use the CDMA network only, thereafter it has been in either CDMA or HSDPA, but not in EDGE, fantastic speeds 1 Mb+ on the unlimited bundle. just wondering if there will be throttling after exceeding a particular amount. They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.

Like @D32 posts, set your modem to only use 3G / HSDPA and you're good to go. The Airtel unlimited works fine and I managed to download about 10GB of Linux flavors in one day (that's running the downloads from about 08:00am - 10:00pm and using Networx to track my usage). Bob? Who's Bob? Sent from my Black Nokia 3310

If you u put it nje ya dirisha ama juu ya mabati, hiyo itakuwa sarakasi za abunuasi and thats funny.. But if u use an antenna extension cable cause all modems have the connection port for it, this will be considered wise Making money never gets boring

Thanks a lot Alfylavie for the information on how to set that up. I'm buying the Airtel soon.
@all I did a poll on my blog about the best internet providers and guys seem to still feel Safaricom is the best. I guess their upside is their stability. I have used them for over 1 year and only had internet problems countable times. In fact just within the last two months. They are back up again.
