Honestly if it was me,i would shwift in deeply and seriously investigating where could that error came from. If possible fire two or more guys who typed wrongly else go deep to the software developer and do something

Its a pity for a minister to say computer error today and tomorrow he attends a funeral and says some people want to finish him politically.

MK is messing us!

why the hell would one defend Uk on the basis of tribe,you are the tax payer he is not.

All we demand as tax payers is accountability,talking about a typo error of 9.2 B then sabbotage is too shallow for me. He should simply step down.

Lest you forget,it is the same Uhuru who nominated extra councillors scandalously last year..or was it another typo ....Now he says 'they want to finish me'

UK and relevant Ministry officials should resign and wait for the verdict. Njuje and others,It is not about tribe,let the guy carry his own cross. May be its sabotage from the Ministry officials,but that is his problem he sh'd be a good manager. By resigning he will maintain his relevance in 2012. I have always doubted this guy,he doesnt look sober. Look,obviously he is not alone in the fraud,he was the Minister in Charge,therefore he should lead in the resignations from the front. The tax payer is dissapointed. I want Peter Keneth as the next MoF. Who knows if he performs well he might be the 2012 candidatre.

it is high time kenyans matured..
lets stop tribal chauvinism..
UK should defend himself on that 9.2B saga..
he should prove to us that there was no intents of defrauding kenyans and in the process learn some lessons for shouting first before he have all the facts with him..

@ Tusker baridi & the likes you should also learn a lesson that corrupt odms should not be spared either...

while MoF staff including the P.S were being interrogated over the weekend at the treasury,UK was busy politiking. Is this guy really serious? Even if he is innocent can he show some concern and work with his staff to unravel the fraud or at least work with the detectives? To him 9.2 b is small,but to us it's like a mountain.

1) Is there anyone here who understands how the money would have been stolen through this scheme... I have been trying to understand this first... if you do please explain to me....

2) My opinion is that Uhuru should have been more careful and he should take responsibility,step aside until investigation are completed. If he is clean and maybe this was sabotage this will come out... from the investigation. This is leadership.... and Kenyans should encourage this to happen.

3) TB - your contributions here show you are bitter with Kikuyus. I can deduce that it was ingrained in your mind probably by your parents,relatives or friends when you were growing up that they are all thieves. Calling all Kikuyus thieves will not help you deal with your problems. Jomo Kenyatta encouraged corruption yes...But that does not mean that Uhuru is a thief.... until this is proven. We have many from that community who have never stolen anything and cannot do it. I believe most politicians are corrupt and you cannot say it politicians from that community who are most corrupt.... there is enough data to prove that.

I think we should stop this mob-lynching mania and allow for due process. Just because a few people have made allegations and the press has picked it up is not enough to call for resignations and persecutions. Remember such actions set bad precedents which are hard to correct in the future. The kids also pick these things and repeat them in schools. Remember mass action and subsequent strikes in schools. Let us create a nation which we will be proud of to bequeath to the next generation.

@Bashka,

Where did you see the tribe....??......and get your facts right before posting......UK was politicking alright,but would you mind to be informed that he was briefly in Nyeri before rushing back same hour to Treasury house?....

I really dont get it despite the numerous times UK has appeared to 'shed light' into this 'Typo Error'. How can a whole ministry that prides itself in having the biggest collection of Economics Degrees not spot this 'error ?

Makes me wonder whether they use MS Word to do the Budget,atleast any basic accountant using MS Excel would have spotted this.

Tribal affiliations aside,any Kenyan who pays taxes should be venting and stomping mad! But what do we do? We retire to our conclaves and defend as other conclaves milk all the political mileage. Yuk !

i wonder how it will be at Nyayo ..oops Cocacola stadium on Madaraka day ...will the big 3 'leaders' attend the celebrations if they keep on charging the hungry crowds with massive corruption scandals or will the 'labour day' them?

The papers are coming out with interesting facts. Basically what happened in laymans term is that a Company is closing the accounts for the year. The accountants alters the cash at hand and stocks figures at close of the previous year by reducing them and using this reduced figures as the opening balances. The accountant then take actual amount for cash at hand and stocks this FY. This increases the profit for this year.

Someone must have altered the records. They are suspecting a tech savy young chap must have manipulated the system. But remember 5 PS sat in that committee. Whatever they say,the truth will come out. Such things are easier to trace. I also expect a lot of silence from you know who.

Toss it,turn it or flip it as much as you want but UK really needs to own up.

My biggest fear is that by blaming the computer,he is trying to exonorate himself and all people below him. How does he intend to punish the computer,will he suggest we buy another computer and send the current one to jail for corruption?

Facts! UK did not do the budget...he presented it and he is now worried stiff with all errors/ brewing scandals being reported....UK,Oburu,Kinyua,the other technocrats are fully reposponsible....

UK should shut up and put out all his resources to produce full proof evidence of whats cooking in his ministry...whether typo-who typed....if surbotage,who typed the concoted figures and under whose instructions.....

@Extrablessed

You are very wrong,UK did the budget (with the error),thats the way it works.

Had the error sneaked through parliament,then it can be said that parliament approved the budget (with the error).

It looks like UK ako peke yake.... that should be the spirit here.... any Mwizi mulikwaad should be left on his own to roast... nothing like ' they are out to finish me'

@extrablessed,I don't agree with you. Surely as much as I like Uhuru,with or without intentions he's messed up. He's role is not that of a presenter or an actor,he's the Boss! and he's misled us. This is a poor nation with people dying and such errors should not be excussed! Honestly,do you think this money would have been returned if the theft was successful?

The IT data column used in this process is apparently fixed. Somehow,the data was altered,IT guys there are f***ed. This points to outright sabotage hence and predictably why some of us are very quick to create the picture UK would try thugging Ksh 9B in that ovious manner. Lets wait for the evidence.

@Obi,

FYI,Parliament had already passed the supplementary budget by the time the anomalies were pointed out by MPig GI.......The rest of the Mpigs saw nothing........Huh..!!....Infact,i suspect even Imanyara saw nothing.It is most likely he was informed by Mwalimu Mati of Mars Group.
