What was shocking about Man U is the fact they never turned up. As the game headed towards conclusion, it was so uncharacteristic of Man u to give in without a fight. The idea of parking the bus is foreign to some teams, I wonder why SAF attempted it; it is a reserve for the stokes and Chelseas of this world.

Webb aside, the Toon army is sometimes lethal. I remember them overruning Man U and the contest ended 3-0 in favour of the Toon Army. Money city should be careful coz they can easily undo the good work they did on Monday night.

The ref didnt give us any penalties, or good decisions. Not enough extra time for us to get a goal, no sendings off for the other team. We was robbed.Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Newcastle are a threat but i just don't think they'll have enough left to challenge Mancini's men after tonight's encounter with Chelsea.....Man City will treat that match like a cup final!

De Mateo is being humbled by Papise Cisse at the Bridge.
WOW!!
Arses finishing at top 4 is NOW NOT guaranteed;the better for me so that Wenger can spend some real cash in the summer.

I think Chelsea had already given up on 4th place. I think their minds are on FA cup and to win Champion's league and get automatic qualification into next season.

As for Arsenal, they cannot afford to lose a match. Liverpool won't even make UEFA.

@ Kyt.....Yes, i still don't think Newcastle will be a challenge for Man City....Tiote's absence (if he fails to recover) will also be felt at the center. As it has been said, the Chelsea players didn't really seem concerned with the outcome of last night's match. L'pool also had the same kind of performance against Fulham on Tuesday. It seems Di Matteo and the players are confident they can secure CL qualification by winning the final against Bayern.

Anyway, the second goal by Cisse is my choice for goal of the season.

We might all be focusing on the Newcastle/Man City match only for Man Utd to drop points against Swansea.

Applause

I agree with you @Taz. Newcastle and City have the early kick off at 3.30pm on Sunday so Utd will have known the outcome before they face Swansea in the last game of the day at 6pm. I really hope Tiote recovers in time - he'll be the guy to keep Yaya in check and he can do it well.

I was absolutely surprised to hear Di Matteo saying that Papisse didn't even know where the ball would end the way he kickedit for the 2nd goal. I expect such a statement from someone who has never played football!

We used to call that shot "banana" shot, with the outside of the foot. You know it will curve outwards from the outside of your foot, but you cannot really estimate how far out it will curve. So it could have gone to the near end or far end of Cech's goal, but Papisse knew exactly what he was doing. My goal of the season so far, even if Suarez scored from almost half line.

The Magpies will be boosted by the fact that they are only a point behind Arsenal but City have had 2 extra days rest and will treat the game like a cup final,it could be a great game for the neutral. Even a draw would suit Utd fine, and would spur them to perform against Swansea. Last match against Sunderland is a tricky affair

The welcome to The Reebok for Fabrice was moving but not enough to see Bolton through, Spurs look to have regained their stride. Arsenal better be careful against Norwich.

ION, Jose becomes the first manager to win 4 titles in 4 different countries, great achievement. And what a game it was, end to end stuff! That 3 nil scoreline belied Bilbao's performance. Even after missing a penalty, scoring a goal and missing a sitter one on one with the goalie, CR7 still wanted the ball!He really wants that pichichi.

Ofcourse Messi outshone him with a hat trick that took him past Gerd Muller's record of 67 goals in a European season. Phenomenal. But I hope CR7 does well in the Euros and wins the next Bállon Dór

Liverpool have already qualified for Europa League courtesy of winning the Carling Cup.

I was also totally suprised at Di Matteo's ignorance, jealousy [sore looser] or most probably both! There was no Newcastle player anywhere near the Chelsea goal. What did he think Cisse was trying to do? Kick the ball out of the stadium??

@smano - I remember the banana shot - Made popular by Roberto Carlos. During his hey days, coming up with a wall when he was about to take a free kick was a waste of time. The lad could curve the ball round the wall it looked like magic!

A friend of mine once scored a corner with a banana shot - he takes the corner, it curves on the inside of the field and then goes straight in without being touched by anyone else! We never heard the last of it!! But it was pretty impressive though. And now Di Matteo thinks Cisse didn't know what he was doing? Even hitting the ball with the outside of his boot was just an accident? Bure Kabisa!!!!
