I however have a bet with somebody that the inflation will be "adjusted" again. Downward ofcourse BD had an article about IMF having 'issues' with the current inflation model. The same IMF that recommended a change (fudging of the model) back in Feb 2010 is now saying that their recommendation was not good enough. Absolute horse sh**
I too expect the inflation model to be 'tweaked' yet again to hide the KES devaluation as money has to be printed to fund the elections.
Inflation at single digits this year even if it rains from today till 31/12/2012 can only be achieved by fudging the inflation model again.$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

Simplified wrote:@erifloss,impunity et al Was looking for info on how to purchase t-bills without the hustle of going to cbk (for special cds a/c opening & filling in the forms) since I work far from town. Found a solution with cfc stanbic, all I need to do is open an account with them and request them to purchase the t-bills for me,the money gets debited from my account. They charge a commission of 0.139% they say. Anyone using them? so Coop robs me with 1%? Foresight..
Hisah unfortunately, I am not based in Kenya and the NSE has very limited info BUT I am going to buy KK, KCB & Kengen. Just looking at it from a contrarian investing point of view, these stocks should have decent returns.Granted the NYSE has a more fluid/ greater turnover than the NSE so I realize it could be harder to get decent returns in a short time.Hisah you are a trader, so our time frames are different plus you know the entry/ exit points, alot of your followers dont, lets wait and see. http://seekingalpha.com/...of-america?source=yahoo
@Nabwire it is now the end of March, how well did you do with these shares?

Its not end of March yet, a week is an eternity in the stock market. Anyhow, Bank of America is now trading at $9.85, I forget how much it was trading at at that time, I think thats when it was sub $5 right?? Anyways it has given me great capital gains yet we are only getting started. I sold of my stake in Moneygram and instead bought Fannie Freddie. Eastman Kodak is trading OTC, not much action expected from it until after the lawsuits are settled. On the other hand, how are the Treasury bills' rates? I dont hear much chest thumping anymore so im guessing the rates adjusted downwards?

Yeah I was, but I explained that im not in Kenya plus other terms made me decide to wait it out. But if your question is whether the TBills group or the KCB won by March, I think its pretty obvious who won.

inflation rates in the US are very low,2~3%. treasury bills are also low but are slighly higher than inflation rates. investing in stocks in a low inflationary environment like the us,a 10%+ rise is huge. in kenya inflation is at 15. treasury bills rate is 16.95. the real return is not that diffrent from the US.

Yes I did, started with cfc stanbic, they are on point and it's clock work, Just as they told me. FYI In coasto so am with the msa branch. Then I went to CBK and armed with my KRA pin number opening a special cds a/c is no big deal, you fill in a card that has to be stamped by your bank and returned to them. After about a month you get your special cds number sent to you via email together with the cbk virtual a/c to use for the deposits. still haven't used cbk directly waiting for cfc stanbic to come through with my cash after the 182 days. Will keep you posted. Hug the bear....ride the bull.....di$mount!!!
