Agreed. So what is it? If he's selling himself he's doing a shoddy job already as I have no idea and neither do my friends.

He also should not be shy to answer the small things.

You can't let the fellow get away with statements such as "i will respect the rule of law". Even Githu Muigai respects the rule of law...the way he interprets it.

We've been letting these guys get away with too much.

I think we are going back to the 90's and picking guys for the sake of it. I remember a thread not long ago where guys were picking Ndemo.

The same Ndemo who's ministry wants to pass a spy law that is far worse than North Korea and totally against the constitution.

Let these people prove themselves. Just because they are young and savvy doesn't mean that they are good. Even Amin was a young and savvy fellow.


Yes Ndemo has suprised me to on this spy law thing.I think its retrogressive.I have alot of respect for him as i think he is among the best performing PS's if not the best during Kibaki's administration.
As for Kiyapi i like his confidence but i dont think he is primed for prime time.I watched him on the bench and honestly he did not say anything so inspiring.He is nowhere near being a kenyan Obama.The one person i have watched and listened to alot who can come close to a kenyan Obama is Peter kenneth.He is not as eloquent or charming but he has a good grasp on the issues and he provides good practical solutions.Kenneth's only problem is that he thinks he can win presidency without the support of those he doesn't like.To win presidency you have to try get support from everyone.

@alma I agree with your concerns, but to be fair the guy has just started, so far i like what I am hearing, PK has been praised so much but I struggle to separate his opinions on some important issues like iCC from other kawaida monkeys. At least Martha Karua has been clear on what she stands for but I still have beef with her for her role in the bungled 2007 process

my prayer is Kiyiapi doesnt consort with usual suspects ie Goldenberg MM and Saitoti, Orange Maize RAO, Hustler WR, Prince UK...... I hope he only sticks with clean guys with a clear vision, even if he doesnt win, he would have made an importnat point

When all is said and done, come the elections, Kenyans will mostly vote on tribal lines/affilitations.
The next president will either be UK, RAO, Wiper or MM.
Someone remind me to revisit this post for confirmation after the elections.

These guys could also be looking forward to gain from the ICC trials impact on politics. I'm not writing them off yet.

So who of those other seasoned politicians is a credible leader? Without even taking corruption into account, just looking at their record in implementation of anything from beginning to the end...

Most of our career politicians are just but activists who happened to "make it". They have not evolved from being activists and therefore fail to understand that they have great responsibility on their hands.

At this point we may not be interested in the most loud and dramatic politician, what we are asking for is a leader who can carry a vision and has the capacity to implement a vision.
