please educate us on his tax policy. What does he think about the hague? what does he think about property laws in Kenya?

If we are really serious about taking the debate forward, we really should get rid of this "i like the guy" syndrome.

Who is Kiyapi and what does he think of the gov't reading my email?

Then I will join you. In the meantime, he's just the same as the usual suspects.

no one should get a free ride..not even kiyapi.

What has he done? What is his view on taxation policy? what does he think of gays in marriage? exactly what is behind that mind?

I think we are going back to the 90's and picking guys for the sake of it. I remember a thread not long ago where guys were picking Ndemo.

The same Ndemo who's ministry wants to pass a spy law that is far worse than North Korea and totally against the constitution.

Let these people prove themselves. Just because they are young and savvy doesn't mean that they are good. Even Amin was a young and savvy fellow.

Unfortunately, the alternative is worse than the "young and savvy" unknown Amins

I like the way you think, but politics isn't just about policies and manifestos(which are usually copy pasted from one party to another) but also hope.

Even in old democracies in the West, the same thing happens, an element of giving hope to the electorate may win the elections.

I refuse to participate in the charade. This has been the problem in Kenya for a long time and guys are still waiting for the messianic candidate.

So until he says something that matters, then yeye pia ni kama wale wengine. Seen it too many times.

So please those that support him, tell me where he stands in the issue of 14 seater matatus being phased out. Don't tell me he's on twitter. If Hitler was alive now, he'd be the best on twitter.

Also you cannot build your presidential election bid by mentioning each and every other little issue in the country.

By attempting to talk about every little thing there is, we begin to get into empty political rhetoric. You might recall thecampaign period before the 2007 election, some politician went to the Northern part of the country and promised insurance to every animal that dies due to drought? I mean people clapped and all, but how the hell do you implement that promise on a national scale? Recently, similar promises were dished out in Lamu that the place will look like Dubai once the new port comes into existence, and as usuall the people clapped and shouted. Let's wait and see.

The presidential candidate should take a higher abstraction of the issues to be covered by his government. For example, if he says he is committed to the rule of law and will continue to push for an indepedent judiciary, then Hague is covered right there.

Asking him to address each and every piece of issue or policy in all arms of government is calling for empty promises.

What we should look out for right now above his election promise and party manifesto is the personal capacity to implement the vision based on track record and his willingness to put the country on the correct path.

Agreed. So what is it? If he's selling himself he's doing a shoddy job already as I have no idea and neither do my friends.

He also should not be shy to answer the small things.

You can't let the fellow get away with statements such as "i will respect the rule of law". Even Githu Muigai respects the rule of law...the way he interprets it.

We've been letting these guys get away with too much.

Going on the bench is not being put on the spot.

It's a question of time, remember campaign period has not officially started.

I'm not privy to his plans but I believe such are the issues he will be finalizing now that he is away from public office.

Other candidates seem to have a head start since most of them have been career politicians and have been talking to people I don't know for the last 10-20 years.

Let us wait for this fellow to put out his vision and promise for the country then we can talk of compairing content.

I would know all I wanted from the exchange.Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

By the way that's a challenge I'm making to these so called new age politicians. Come to wazua and duke it out with the pro-odingas and the pro-uhurus.
