..Time and again i have been baffled at how some..nay most of us issue our business cards and i beg to wonder is there really a method to the madness!!

Two years ago,i was invited by a friend of mine who is an oil marketer for the MSK function at the Intercont and boy every-one was dishing cards to any-one willing to listen to them rumble,I was astonished at the ease the cards did rounds and for those who know me well i do not give out my card unless you can give me business and ofcourse i will decline yours, i have been touted as arrogant, rude but it is what it is.. I am in an advisory/client facing role however i see back-office staff dishing out cards like there is no tomorrow and can't help but wonder why the misplaced notions!!

So am i right to assume most of us dish them for the sake or like i asked is there method to the madness, am reminded however to never look a gift horse in the mouth but still..

I think it is rude to reject. You'd rather take it and discard it later. I also don't give out mine unless it's for business. I never carry my cards unless I'm going for a business meeting, if I meet a friend then we just exchange phone numbers but no cards. I get surprised when I see people just dishing their cards out in pubs like they are status symbols.

But when you go to Asia just know cards are mandatory and there's a ritual, you don't just dish it out the Kenyan way.

BBI will solve it

@2012..I hear you regarding Asia (japanese) specifically, both hands, right side-up et al..however like you said in Kenya is a different story all together, i always have 1 card somewhere just in-case when am in Kenya, but the status-symbol mentality needs to be ditched i find it laughable to say the least at the sight esp in pubs when people display their ignorance..

While at it I can print you high quality Business cards, or any other print material including brochures and even t-shirts. That's my business card right there.

In some cases, someone giving you their card when you ask for their contacts is just intending to keep your relationship official-They will only have their office numbers on the card.
