@livie;

I'm too old for that now,but I did it some 20 or so years ago.

The stylus I want if for my home turn-table.

(BTW; before getting into DJ-ing,I was a truck driver on the Nairobi - Mombasa route with a 20-tonne truck)

@G.G; that wouldn't work for an audiophile like me! There is a reason they make them with elliptical diamond tips....

Ati ofload vinyls? Are you joking? No chance! No chance! No chance! No chance! No chance! No chance!

I have about 130 pieces in mint condition. The genre is a bit out of the ordinary,though...my signature should give you a hint....

I was thinking of starting a vinyl club; would you join?

@Mukiha

Try the shop called Chatur on River Rd. I remeber getting an old Sansui Styllus there some years back after months of searching. Just ensure you carry a sample.

Count me in the Vynyl Club

@livie:

it's a Pro-Ject debut II

It's 100% manual,but the performance puts digital stuff to a great shame!

I used to have an SL-QD-33,fully automatic,but some goons broke into my house and stole it. It took close to 10 years before I could get money to buy a replacement....

I am a die hard vinyl fan. Combine a decent turna with a tube amplifier and presto,you have sound quality that beats the so-called modern digital machines hands down.

Chatur closed down about 7 years ago. The chaps at Assanands Moi Ave. have the Stanton 680,though not over the counter. Its a bit pricey at 4K but I am sure you can negotiate with them.

Count me in on the club.

@G-G

brand names come and go. performance is what matters. thus I upgraded from the SL-QD 33 to the Pro-Ject Debut II.

My turna is a Thorens TD190 MK IV with an Audio Technica stylus while the amp is a Pure Class 'A' Vincent SV236 Tube. Before you ask about the speakers,they are Athena Technologies Audition AS-F2.2 towers.

The sound quality is beyond description. The musical crescendos are magical and tonal balance is simply excellent,not to mention the indepth musical detail.

Just like any other system,mine has a weak point too,which I have identified as my speakers. The Athenas are great but they do not come close to a friend's McIntosh towers (cant remember the series) that I recently tested. I will definitely replace mine sooner than later.

The next project is a powered subwoofer with an Audiopulse LM12D2 driver powered by Class 'D' Bash 500 Plate Amplifier,which I hope to embark on soon as a DIY project when time allows.

@reith:

I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! .....You made me pee on myself!!

You are not supposed to have such a kit!

Mine is a modest Debut II,with the an Ortofon OM5e cart,connected via Ixos interconnects to a Marantz PM4200 then bi-wired via Ixos flat cables to Mission M71i speakers.

Sound is crisp clean,sound-staging is staggering,the bass is sometimes too deep so I put an old pair of socks in the reflax pots [The problem stems from the book-shelf location that causes resonance but the socks have resolved that acceptably]
