Whao!!! Wenger must be a genius! You mean he knows Messi is the best player in the world?
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

He has become Barcelona's all time leading goal scorer before age 25. As of yesterday he has 235 goals for club. He has also pledged to stay with Barca for the rest of his career. How many more will he score? How long will he play? Who is the player who has scored most goal for club? I guess he will break that record in a years time. We will wait to see another man scoring five in a champions league match. His ability to loop the ball over the goalie is the big difference

@FundamentalAli...he also never gets injured how many times have you heard that Messi is out of a game coz of injury...its so rare.I think his humbleness also plays a big role to the kind of footballer he is,on CNN world sport some time last week he said he is where he is because of his Barca teammates, winning cups collectively as a team comes first then individual titles follow thereafter he is an amazing guy and am sure will talk about him for years to come...

From: guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 20 March 2012 09.15 GMT

Quote:
Lionel Messi needs one goal to equal the Barcelona scoring record after César Rodríguez's total was revised to 232 from 235, the La Liga club said.

Barça's Documentation and Studies Centre and La Vanguardia newspaper conducted a joint study to verify the number of official goals scored by Rodríguez in the 1950s. The study showed he had scored three fewer than previously thought, Barça said in a statement on their website.

Messi, the World Player of the Year, who has 51 goals in all competitions this season, could overhaul the record when Barcelona host Granada in La Liga on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old is in his eighth season with the club.

"After studying all of César's matches, it has been confirmed that Messi is only one goal behind," Barcelona said. "It's worth noting that César Rodríguez is the club's all-time top goalscorer in official matches, but the absolute record belongs to Paulino Alcántara, who scored 369 goals in 357 official and friendly matches."

Just to compare with Pele whose record for club is - Years:1956–1974 Club: Santos Appearances:800 Goals:659

So, as far as most goals for a club goes unless he scores 424 goals next year i don't think he will break that record in a year

@ Kratos.....Officially Messi is Barca's all time goal scorer because 200 of Alcantara's goals were in unofficial matches. At his age i think he was what it takes to break Pele's record. The quality of his goals can't be compared to any other footballer.

Thanks, didnt know that. Still, i believe we cannot fairly compare the quality of Pele's goals to Messi's coz during the former's time there was no tv coverage.

A player achieves greatness status if he is able to propell not only his club but his country in the World Cup... as much as the boy is very outstanding..the real show is in S.A.

If you guys ever watched Pele and his famous rounding several swedish defenders, Maradona with the stumbling run from mid pitch to goal, Bebeto pushing Italy to the finals in Atlanta only to miss a crucial penalty...

The Icing is always in the duty to country..

otherwise Messi Shall be remembered with the likes of Ronaldihno, Ronaldo(portugal), Figo etc.. and that list is endless...

Dude kindly scratch Dinho from that list he has won major trophies. if it wasn't for motivation Dinho was one of the greatest entertainers we will ever see

Doing a small jig with the ball before scoring against Chelsea at the bridge. A standing ovation after a superb game against Real at the Bernabeu. Guy was an artist.

The debate continues. Will he better Pele and Maradona in his lifetime? We will wait to see. He has broken a new record with Scoring 86 goals for club in a calender year beating Gerd Mueller's record with 3 matches to spare. We are watching history in the making. For the doubters, Messi inspireda 3 - 0 win against Brazil at Sao Paulo, Brazil. His club has also broken the record for the best start to a La Liga season. Were it not for our own Mugubi and Co, Barca would be unbeaten to now for the new season.
