Beware when you buy Viceroy, Johnny Walker, Famous Grouse, Richot and the rest from some of the outlets around, there are so many fake bottles out there. Its usually very hard to differentiate counterfeit bottles from genuine ones hata the taste is almost the same....only difference is that you would have wasted a lot of money on some cheap colored Chang'aa. Ever wondered why sometimes you wake up with a really bad hangover yet the type of drink you took the previous night is what you've been taking all along!I think the only safe place to buy genuine liqour is the Supermarkets.....atleast for now.

@TAZ, was only aware of the Viceroy. Had to switch to Richot. Have then now also landed on this? As for JW and FG, I don't think they can manipilate these, cause of the 'valve'?

Any Chemist who can advise on how to differentiate the fack from the genuine?

Hehe was imbibing my favourite Viceroy brandy at Latitude Buru about a month ago. Then the ka half appered diluted from the way it was taking tike to bring exitement to me.After making lots of noise i pulled a waiter and confidentially demanded an explanation to which he bluntly but honestly told me.''Sio siri maliza hiyo basi ndio nikuletee orichino''.Since then i take beer or buy a mzinga from uchumi. Its no secret all those brandies around are coloured and flavoured changaas ama yokozuna.

They are using industrial spirit laced with methanol, the kind used in making surgical spirits, cosmetics etc but packaging in common premium brands. People are being paid to collect empty bottles of viceroy, smirnoff vodka, JW, KK, KC, ritchott etc at average of 10 bob a bottle.

kutoka leo nitafuata Mzee. The only hard staff I'll ever take will be from the supermarket or AFCO.

It will take time before the Kariobangigets into the business of brown bottles from EABL.

@ Mc Reggae.....Famous Grouse and Johnny Walker are also on their list. They usually target brands with many consumers lakini Viceroy is the most affected.
