I once walked into a suburb pub while on a visit to UK, (while in the company of my host mind you) there were sharp breaths drawn everywhere, the women clutched their handbags a little bit tighter, the cheer in the conversation dimmed down, quick glances were shot my way ..It was like an unwanted abomination had invaded their cosy midst.

Nothing serious, but I felt it keenly.

Anyone who thinks they are not profiled - no matter where they are - are just kidding themselves!!! It happens every day. I know I'm profiled every now and then but I don't mind.

We once parked a car in a upmarket estate in broad day light - not on the road and not next to anyone's compound - and started talking because my friend was leaving and I was being left behind. The police didn't stop to questions the occupants of the mercedes parked a few metres away.

Were we insulted? Nope! Car jerkers use white toyotas more often than they use blue mercedes benzes. Two "young" men would more likely be thugs compared to and elderly potbellied man with a middle aged lady. Someone most probably called the police on us but we understood where he was coming from.
