I am hopeful that the ICC process(whether just or not) will deter politician funded violence. But I highly doubt that this will deter violence. There is little we have done to minimise inter-ethnic hostilities and hatred. People still talk at the top of their voices how tribe X is the problem in Kenya coz they have taken all the land, messed up traffic and increased corruption and engage in prostitution. Or someone on social media posting that a candidate from tribe Y will never make it for the Presidency or that tribe Z is untrustworthy and stupid. With such talk, it is too simplistic to think that the conviction of just 4 guys will give us peace. Infact, even if we try all 20 persons in the Waki list, we would still fight unless we accept each other at the ordinary Kenyan level.

@alma very well said, and I'd be willing to join the crusade. alma wrote:I hate politics especially the uninformed Kenyan kind but for the first time I really want a "man" to stand up and be counted. What is even more disappointing, metaphorically speaking, is how we as Kenyans 'innocently' mix matchsticks, firewood, pressure cans, and fuel and then act surprised when a blaze flames up. I have just read the statement and I think the headline by Sunday Nation, of the leading Media Group in our country, is unfortunate.

After RAO's utterances, the word "kihii" popped up on Kameme FM during UK's interview ...it's getting uglier by the day. @Alma, well said....

copy paste star reader coment Quote: Kenyan2, pls do not ignore Uhuru's clear achievements that make him a clear favorite to lead this country; let me remind you:
1. He is the son of Kenya's founding farther-Jomo Kenyatta, 2. He IS VERY VERY RICH, so cannot be corrupt 3. All the wealth is clean, not a speck of corruption, he can explain how he came to own half of Taita & Taveta Districts, and the 500,000 Acres of prime land in Kenya, he can also explain why you & I are still landless! 4. He is young, only 50 years old! 5. He comes from CENTRAL PROVINCE, 6. He comes from a ruling tribe! They are very experienced in Presidential matters, Raila is more experienced in Opposition politics & coalitions! 7. He lead KANU to it's first loss ever in 2002, and accepted defeat because he lost to a better Kikuyu! Surely he is not power hungry! 8. In 2007, rather than lead KANU to a second defeat, he defected from Official Leader of Opposition to support Kibaki since he is one of their own! 9. In 2008, during PEV, he did all he could to "help his people" being massacred by Raila in Rift Valley. 10. Last but not least, HE IS GOING TO THE HAGUE!
Why wouldn't you support a man with such a glittering CV!

does that seem like tension to you?
we already have clashes in muhoroni The heading of the article is misleading. Waving placards against RAO does not constitute tension. Tension/Violence in Muhoroni also doesn't seem related to the 'prayer meetings'.

Since we prefer the truth be told, here we go. If that ODM Secretariat statement has his endorsement, which it very likely does, lets just say RAO has goofed big on this one.
As the incumbent and leading Presidential contender going into the election, he looses shine as the father statesman, which he so aspires to be, by polarising the nation with such uncalled for inciting statements, basically Kenyans, please detain my closest competition because of x and y. This just lends credence to the claim, true or otherwise, that the foreigner friendly RAO has been seeking to have the ICC detain Uhuru and Ruto.
This is on the back of his close confidantes indicating ODM is Raila and Raila is ODM.
Learn from Kibaki, many times as head of the Kenyan state, silence is golden.
At this moment of transition in our history, the next President needs to be one of strong character as hard decisions are made and still remain one who is a unifying factor in common purpose.
From Western or Nyanza, is it really RAO?...

@ecstacy It has reached appoint where ANYTHING the guy says or does is wrong; a goof, a miscalculation, a fatal mistake. He has been bashed at several ‘’prayer rallies’’, roasted in parliament with fake documents, accused of being behind ICC, called ‘’nusu mkate /kihii’’ and all other unsavory things. As a politician, should he fight for his political survival and hit back or crawl under a rock and die a political death? If Uhuruto are ready to dish out political blows, they must be prepared to take them as well; K wani kuna kuna mutu who is supposed to be anybody’s punching bag ? @Jaluo (why that name?anyway..)
Maybe I should ask the converse,...
How has Raila's statement that his closest competition Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto be jailed, helped him gain support in his objective to be Kenya's next president?...
Objectivity please.

@ ecstacy
“(why that name?anyway..)”
I am Luo; Fish is my favoutite food? Fact! I support Gor Mahia? Fact! RAO is my leader? Fact! I have lousy teeth? Fact! I prefer light-skinned Okuyo /Kamba women? Fact ! So Jaluo is very apt for me- I am comfortable with who I am. Wewe pia, why ecstacy ? “Raila's statement”I don’t think he was trying to get support by making that statement (That’s my personal opinion- I don’t wine and dine with the man and have never even met him personally - probably his inner circle like Orengo, Dalmas and Jakoyo can answer that question accurately) . Methinks the fake letter tabled in parliament was the straw that broke the camels back and he has decided to break his silence on the ICC issue. He has already lost the ‘’tribal voters’’ from Central and Rift Valley and Western is marching out as well, so really he has nothing to gain or lose from that statement. Many people have already decided they won’t vote for him even if he suddenly develops the magical ability to turn IDP’s into Millionaires. He was trying to get votes/support in Kirinyaga in his recent visit ‘’ in his objective to be Kenya's next president’’. The attendance was dismal and there reportedly was ‘tension’ so there we have evidence that Central hatoboi and can agree on fact rather than speculation. Personally, I am fatigued with all the current Kenyan Politicans RAO included and I think they are all USELESS. If I were RAO’s adviser, I would tell him to cut a deal with Uhuruto, Kalonzo and Saitoti for the sake of Kenya. My advice would be that they all agree not to run for the presidency, all shut up and stop stoking tribal balkanization and tension.
