All indications point to a likelihood of Parliament, steered by Ruto and Uhuru, voting to have Kenya withdrawal her support of the Rome Charter that establshed the ICC.

This move may have Kibaki's tacit approval!

The import here is that Kenya will no longer have any obligation to arrest anybody on behalf of ICC.

That's why it was always a calculated (wise) move for the Suspects to have settled for the Hague route in favour of a Local Tribunal.

The posturing in Parliament with purpoted UK Govt dossier etc is part of the schemme.

It is getting even clearer here -

Exercise in futility.

A motion to withdraw from ICC sponsored by Isaac Ruto ,was passed by Mpigs way back in Dec of 2010.From there, the president was supposed to write to UN informing it of Kenya's withdrawal. That's the last we heard about it and i am certain MK will never sign such a thing........and neither would such a move stall the ICC or prejudice any matter that is for consideration by the court.

Too late.Watafute ingine.

Nay, the earlier attempt by the same group to get Parliament to pass a resolutotion that Kenya withdraws from ICC was actually shelved by the authors - presumably as an strategy to allow the Ocampo guests to try their luck with challenging the evidence held against them in court.

This would help them gauge which way the scales were bound to tilt.

Obviously things are elephant - hence the trump card - withdrawal!

Their next move should be to ensure that they have a friendly Gov't in place after Kibaki and beyond.

My hunch is, Kibaki is in the mix!

See this too -

Very interesting times. I have found it strange that 2 pro-Kibaki groups have asked for the full Waki list to be released in the past week. What do they know?

Who will deal with ICC Suspects even if they win presidency? Even if kenyas withdraws from icc they will be arrested by member states. Unless they give up international unions, agreements, and also intl travels.

I like watching my cat killing a rat....It toys with it, plays around with it, lets it run mpaka there and that way..In the end, the rat is dead. The ship left the dock a long time ago. By the way, the rats are not in my house but my neighbours.

This Kenya case is important to the reputation of ICC. It has the potential of damaging ICC if mishandled, Matsanga has set the ball rolling.

matsanga is either lying or is about to be arrested. None of the options are good. What people forget is that the case is going on whether the prosecutor has no witness or 1000. Only the appeals chamber can help them. Not matsanga. He should be more concerned with Kony his former boss.

I wasn't in support of Matsanga, he doesn't seem to know what he says. How would the cases continue without witnesses, I thought Kosgey was not confirmed because there was only one witness that mentioned him.
