...@B.Timer...Mbloo...hope you are well. So far we have only agreed on one thing since we joined Wazua (Cant remember what it was)...And looks like we will never agree on anything else!!! ...The verdict is not yet out. I wonder why you are celebrating so early. Remember the goat that danced itself lame before the main dance?. Yes, he is very right so far, that that their being charged at the Hague is an achievement, not just for Kenya but for the whole of Africa. Did you see how fast the former Zambian President Mr Banda conceded defeat? Isn't that a lesson he has learnt from the Hague. The professor has not changed his standpoints on any of the issues he has discussed...Don't misinterpret his articles.

wakwitu you are right and wrong I dont think Banda conceded because of the ICC. ICC does not prosecute people who hold on to power nor those who rig elections. Neither will it go for those who call for mass action but those who plan violence. However, the role of the ICC is a good-bad one. Good because it gives us the citizens of African countries the safety in knowing that even the mightiest of our leaders can be arraigned there if they organise mass murder, rape etc against citizens. You will remember Amin and that guy from Ethiopia Mengistu Haile Mariam. They killed and escaped to other countries where they have lived in peace.(ok Amin is dead but Mengistu is still in Harare).African courts will not usually nail any big fish. The ICC however appears heavily skewed against the third world. Why on earth is everyone quiet on any of the cases by the US, UK, France & Italy? South Africa has petitioned the ICC to investigate UK, US and France over crimes committed in Libya. They are strategically mum about it.

Zambia has a culture of respecting elections, they have had 5 presidents since independence.all of them changed in the ballot. Considering the first one is still alive... Zambia is a true democracy - it beats Ghana (actually sijui what the fanfare of ghana is all about - only 2 successful elections?)

How times change!! During the Moi era, a write up like this, that seems to be in apparent support of the regime to invoke provisions/lacuna in law to carry out unpopular decisions would have the Author immediately branded a Kanu Mole, Moi apologist etc. What suprises me the most is that, though the good Prof was very vocal in support of the Constitution at the time of the debate on if to adopt it as it was or amend certain sections of it before passing it, today, he seems to castigate and express frustration with the same constitution on account of what he claims to be its omissions/limited nature in addressing and clarifying important spheres of our affairs that are key insofar as the direction the political class may choose to take the Country. In the world of academia Prof. Makau rates favourably. When it comes to commentating on topical issues in Kenya's political arena he seems to be at sea! Completely out of tune. His friends, including those in Wazua should advise him to save face by concentrating on scholarly work and leave doing political commentary to those better adept at it.

A couple of weeks ago, he penned an article opining that Kalonzo and Sally Kosgey would present a formidable ticket! Lately he seems to root for Raila presidency - ill advised as it is! Way back in 2004 when Raila was giving Kibaki a hard time over unhonoured MOU, he sharply castigated him wondering if there were no students of history in the then LDP. Today I pose the same question to Prof. Is he not a student of History!!
