I saw somewhere in the doc that if election is held this year the ICC negative sentiment on RAO will reduce his chances; guess this thing is hot- and now MK announce election this year http://www.nation.co.ke/...0/-/8v6xoi/-/index.html
Then icc rejects ocampo 4 appeals! is it a coincidence? someone convince me.

After reading all this, I feel sorry for My country, I hope all of you are over 50yrs because if you are under 35 yrs then the country will never move forward, not with these kind of people.

compare these countries:

North Korea/south korea
Kuweit/Iran
Pakistan/India
Thiland/MYANMAR
JAPAN/RUSSIA
South Arabia/ Yemen

These countries are neighbor but distances apart economically. Why?

One country leadership who are very wealthy were beating drums and singing we don't like the west song and the poor brainwashed citizens were dancing to the song. While the other recognize the significance of the ties with the West and wenr after them.

I mr Drunkard Rollout, have been to more than 10 countries in Europe North America, Asia, Africa when you do that you see alot of things differently. We need to start looking at ourselve seriously, do we really think the West want something from us or they're tired of feeding us, treating us and protecting us and they want us to be self sufficient?

well, the world is changing - we don't have to put up with their nonsense...WE HAVE OPTIONS.

What options do we have? China? Inspite of double digit growth for the past 20yrs, China still have Just over 80 Million people below poverty line, so while the world is changing we still have the same players.

Kenyans have a false sense of, screw the west lets see the east but the fact of the matter is the east is not yet off the woods. China is actually struggle in more than two fronts, they must maintain a double digit growth in order to keep their unemployment at around 4% at the same time their facing pressure from the middle class whose needs have change, they want more wages, social safety nets and freedom. With inflation, pressure from the West to loosen their currency and pressure from their growing middle class to improve the living standards and conditions, China cannot be the alternative of a country like USA

One which own the other, I don't know what that mean.

Africa leadership do not care about trade with China, they care about kickbacks if you don't know, apart from China dumping inferior goods to Africa and taking all the contracts(loaned), what are we actually selling to China?

Instead of giving something real to back up your argument all you can say it we're tired of being treated like children? when and how did the West treat Africa like children? thats what your politician tells you right?

China at the moment almost practically owns the economies of some countries in the so called West

You both have a point but Drunkard its a bit naive to think the West 'help' us for nothing. There is always something in it for them, first there is the influence and power, then their citizens have business interests out here that have to be protected for example I am still convinced 2008 PEV was resolved because they held a big stick at the two chief pigs.

no one really helps us from the goodness of their hearts. Remember the murungaru thing? he ate both sides of the plate, a kickback from the Brits and from the Japanese - then gave the contract to the Japanese. the Brits were not happy. We are not ignorant people, China is not hear to help, neither is the west! out of the list of countries given - how many of them are military regimes? consider Yemen, the poorest Arabic country - it almost has no oil as compared to the neighbour you are comparing it to. Russia and Japan? As I said before on another forum - its our responsibility to find a model that works for us. Mark you, I am not saying that all the west does is evil - far from it, but its a new Africa we want TRADE NOT AID! Agoa was a start. Regardless of the nobility of offers, right now - WE HAVE OPTIONS and that can not be denied, we are funding 97% of our over 1 trillion shilling budget from internal sources! thus we don't have to put up with patronizing attitudes of some people.

Let's not start thumping our chests for nothing.
The list given by @drunkard should tell you things. All the countries that are on the West's good books prosper. Remember Hong Kong got their independence in 1997, but they have always been more "FREE" than us.
Trade is good, but can we really trade with the developed would without some framework that works in our favor?
Agoa is trade help, don't kid yourself. If it were to be left to the market forces,we won't go far.
What we should be doing, is playing our cards wisely.
BRAIN not BRAWN will take us to the other side of the economic divide.
We need the West, we need their help.
Natural resources? How do we exploit them?
If its oil, who is exploring? Can we explore on our own? The gold, how far can we go without the developed world?
Iron ore,can we mine it on our own? How about horticultural produce to Europe?Aren't we crying be classified together with TZ,UG etc? Ain't that help? Israel doesn't get such support, why? Coz they are on their feet.
Before one goes around shouting "we don't need their help", take a moment and understand what is help. The definition of help.
In Africa, we need a lot of HELP.
For LAPSSET,coal in Mui basin, the gold in western Kenya, the oil in the north and coast to be beneficial to us, the very west/east must help to stand on our feet.
Lolest!

@mkeiy, I wouldnt classify exploratim of natural resources as help. That is a case of mutual benefit. Or exportation of flowers. In West Africa, France has been involved in massive bribery to win oil contracts. I agree with you that we need to use BRAIN but we must not play servant when we can be boss. Let us be selfish and look into our economic interest first. China may not be an angel either, but if their deal benefits the country, dump the west!
