Let us benchmark here . Has RAO of nusu ugali initiated any meaningfull development programme in the last 4 yrs . Don't tell me KKV . Ama the guy rides on Baks initiatives like LAPSSET . Remember these ODM guys are obsessed with criticising anything so long as it suits them then ride on success of others when it also suits them .
Peace be with you

Work has be done, kazi imefanywaa...Most of the Roads projects were planned(feasibility studies) even b4 Kibaki Government. When he came in,the designs and implementation were done.
The last two stages are difficultSad Sad because you either do them on black and white(elephant) or on the ground(reality). He stood firm for the later.

My post is a reproach towards those who only see one man and one man only.

That I have to explain it waters down its thrust!

If you watch over the government and development projects do not get completed, you get kicked out and have to take blame for it.

If you watch over the government to bring development, you get the credit, not those who you hired in the first place to do the Job.

In other words, Mo Ibrahim has a very good reason why he rewards presidents who achieved something for their countries and not the civil servants.

So, credit goes to Kibaki, not KRB, because of his management skills and strategy of ensuring his government delivers what it pledged to do, free education, improved infrastructure, etc

Otherwise, why do we have governments?

If a government does not improve the welfare of its citizen, then, that is a government made in hell.

You kind of got me confused there. When you talk about hiring and government who hires who? Who is the employer?

And if one individual can get the job done and also the accolades, why do we need government?

This Mo Ibrahim thing,............it is a new can of worms. For example, I missed the best performers. I am sure you would elaborate on Kenyas performance on all the indices wont you?

I am not trying to say the president has not done anything useful. But to worship him is another thing altogether. Are we not lampooning such worship in other quarters with such high moral ground? This is why I find it easy being on the other side.

I would have thought praise ought to go to institutions e.g. a government rather than an individual.

Otherwise why would we have governments when one individual can get the job done?

@yesuwangu in most governments The president vision drives the government...Thats why Mo Ibrahim awards presidents whose government performed well.

I used the same metrics when I said Kibaki needs to be tried for PEV because he had the capacity to avert the bloodshed.Pple hide behind 'even if he had conceded pple would still have been killed'...we will never know that because his greed to hold on to power made him fidget with the electoral body ... and his actions preceding the elections made tribal animosity build to a crescendo...making it impossible to have a peaceful election.

Pple want us to believe the roads that were constructed makes kibaki the best president ever...I think that is false...Nyerere nearly made Tanzania economy collapse but he is respected for creating a brotherhood that hold TZ together.

Harmony between communities triumphs against development anyday...And that makes Kibaki the worst president Kenya has ever had.

@ selah, I like the way you think. But I disagree strongly on the issue of what brought about the chaos. It was just a culmination of a hate campaign started around 2005.

I

their website gives the criteria of awarding the prize as:
a democratically elected former African Executive Head of State or Government → check
who has served their term in office within the limits set by the country's constitution, → check (almost)
has left office in the last three years, and → check (almost)
has demonstrated excellence in office. → there are indices to measure this and I am currently lookin for presidents' vision among them.

Will report back with the results.....

@yesuwangu I didnt mean vision as a metric I meant Mo ibrahim believes good governance starts with the president...so if the president vision is to be president for ever, eat all he want and 'puke on our toes' then I am sure he will not get The award :)

@ selah. Truth is whether Kibs would have accepted defeat or not we would have still fought."our" minds had already been poisoned.
Some have been thought brave because they were afraid to run away.

Is it still called tribalism in America when a win by Repulicans means all secretaries (Ministers) are from the republicans and same incase of a Democrats win?

Britain and other first worlds also have similar trend.

Ours in my opinion is better due to the intergration which have relation to direct propotionality to the tribes.
