I was flipping channels and landed on KTN. They are playing Lucy Kibaki's tribute songs - lot's of them! There are also clips of events and speeches. Very moving.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask "What's up?". Everything okay?

By the way, from the clips, Lucy Kibaki has done a lot for this country. I think the press decided to black her out all along and only broadcast the negatives.

She's been involved a lot with children, the sick, disabled, women. And not just for photo ops. It seems she has a passion for these things.

Mama Lucy Kibaki, belatedly accept my appreciation for all you've done for Kenya. We never gave you enough credit. My excuse is the media!

I only recall the slaps she handed around at Nation centre a while back, her firing one state house chief after another, not to mention a presidential escort commander who was demoted to an OCPD! I am not aware of the kids you talk of, but may be it has been happening

Have always had a soft spot for her. For all the negative ways she has been casted in the media, always found her genuine - and motherly.

I have always believed that she had very god intentions for this country and would have done alot if only it was not for the 'challenge'. Please recall her first years.

I agree with you 110%.

That choir [state house choir?] sang song after song after song after song and all of them were about Mama Lucy Kibaki! Some songs were starting something like "Ahsante Baba Mungu..." and I'd go "Ah... Finally the theme changes" only to hear the next line... "...tunakushuru kwa kutupatia kiongozi kama Mama Lucy...". It definitely took me to the days of mkulima namba moja, mwalimu namba moja, daktari namba moja, baba wa taifa - tawala Kenya tawala...

But after all is said and done, the first lady has done a lot for Kenya - serious stuff like sourcing for funds from foreign goverments to build & equip hospitals to sourcing for ARVs. You should have seen her with the kids. Genuinely concerned about the kids - the love and empathy were evident. In some of the clips she was being moved to tears. I couldn't help but wonder if she has a press secretary/person. Some of this things shoul have come out long time ago!

I heard she has problem walking...I saw the tributes and songs on TV praising her and I was worried for her ...is she that sick.

I have to give her Kudos if she had anything to do with the setting up of Mama Lucy district Hospital In kayole/Umoja, that hospital is God sent for pple of eastlands.

Kibaki is letting the hospital down with under staffing and the road to the hospital from jakaranda estate is impassable..they shld put a bridge if they cant control the sewage that has flooded the road creating a big crater.
