Next week,SA’s first ‘African’ ruler; to quote Mutuma Mathiu,Zuma will become president. I don’t have faith in this guy at all! You should see him perfoming the Umshini wami (bring me my machine gun) song in full Zulu regalia; spears,feathers and all…..it’s hilarious. To think he will be SA’s president…..he will embarrass them.

I’m very interested to see how his policies on helping poor blacks will work. Former Pres.Thabo had one called BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) which was meant to empower blacks but it failed; the few blacks who benefited helped there cronies; helped create what are known as the ‘Black Diamonds’ (or Rand Billionaires) people like Tokyo Sexwale and Cyril Ramaphosa….the latter i’m sure some of you remember him…..he had come to mediate between Raila and Kibaki after post election violence but was hurled out of the country Kenya style after he was accused of being biased since he allegedly was Raila’s ‘business patner’. I hope my cynism is misplaced,otherwise SA is in deep *&^$

South Africa… welcome back to Africa.hahahahaha!

Aihh xtina,ati 'Welcome back to Africa'...i get it though.
Zuma showered after having sex with a HIV positive woman,and he said that was one way of preventing transmission. imagine that;a whole,grown up person living in this century saying that? tsk tsk.
but i think people should give him time to be prezzo,maybe he will be as good as or better than thabo.

@Xtina,

Zuma is a large despot in the making.......Something worse than Robert........Asked about who of his four wives would become first lady,here is what that 'mug' said,

'There is no First Lady. If there is an occasion,one day we will have the wife we are with,another day we will have another one.' ........Let's just say we ain't seen it all but what do we expect when bouncers take over from teachers?

@Reiner,

Though i do not always agree with Hitchens,but here is a small article on Zuma and a few facts.........Maybe after elections and Baks or RAO want to visit SA,we may as well ask them to learn that Zulu stick fight first just incase President Zuma demands for a show.......and what do you see in that 'Danse macabre' pix..???....Anyway,better than Baks.That would send Museveni into hiding....!!

i am currently in south and i can tell you guys here either love or hate him with a passion. alot like raila-mania/phobia. Zuma is an astute politician. he outfoxed mbeki like a school kid. mbeki comes from a big rich family and was an introvert hence never really connected with the ordinary folk. that fact alone makes the zulus absolutely love the guy.i mean an un-educated guy who manages to bring down a sitting president... gotta respect a dude like that. people all over the world are tired of sons of the rich and famous being shoved down their throats at the ballot. another thing you need to always remember is that the media here is generally white controlled,and they hate the guy with a passion. Basically lets wait untill he occupies the high seat and judge him by how he performs. he has said he will not change any of the major economic policies initiated by Mbeki.

@Xtina: This guy is an imbecile and a psysho to say the least!. He is corrupt and has the morals of an untrained dog,even worse. He raped an HIV+ woman with no protection and when asked what he did next,he said he took a quick shower! What kind of a role model will he be to the boys and girls of South Africa? Are they going to believe that to avoid being infected,they should take a quick shower after the act? God save Africa.

Zuma is bound to struggle on the economic front whether he likes it or not,reason being white SouthAfricans are migrating in droves either to Australia,NZ or Canada. So you can expect major capital flight and very poor numbers for SA outlook in the near future.

Having said that I am completely for the guy,Thabo Mbeki for all his intellect never really bothered to intergrate the poor South African. Infact its fair to say he only cared about the numbers and what the markets thought of South Africa.

Zuma should be more pragmatic and will look to address the bread and butter issues of the black south African,coz it does not help the blackman to be told that their economy is growing at 10 percent when his role is to provide cheap labour and buy goods made by the white man.

SA may swing either way depending on how Zuma handles the expected white exodus. He needs to convince them to stick around. The 2010 WC should help him keep some atleast for 1 year.

I guess if you can't win with facts,you can always pen bile-laced,xenophobic rants to distract everyone.

'Connecting with the people' is good PR but we all know that PERFORMANCE is not based on 'connecting with the people'... Reminds me of Chinua Achebe's 'A Man of the People'... Achebe is a genius.

Next week will be the litmus test for Africa. My fear is that Africa's brightest and promising child will become another loser like her brother-Nigeria and Kenya.

He has a Hurculean task because of the woes that plague South Africa. Rampant crime,declining mineral prices and the flight of the highly skilled yet dwindling whites. Xenophobia is curtailing possible replacements from other countries.

What is troubling is the impunity that is similar to that of Kenya. It seems we have exported our stupidity-where youth threaten the use of violence should something happen to their demagogue.

It will indeed be sad but hopefully the 'I-took-a-cold-shower-to-prevent-infection president' will sorround himself with wiser people.

He should also put policies that help the majority instead of creating a few oligarchs.

Monikers i have loved most so far concerning the SA elections:

1. Zuma is going to turn SA into 'Zumbabwe'...hahaha

2. Thabob Mugabeki: a cartoon strip making fun of Pres Mugabe na the Fmr Pres. Thabo,on his infamous comments 'Zimbabwe has no crisis'.

I love Africa,despite all our issues. I take pride in knowing all that takes place in our motherland. I have pretty big misgivings about Zuma,but a little part of me is for the guy.
I hope the poor blacks will better themselves,since 'one of their own' is about to become at the helm of their country,stop blaming whites for their situations,even get rid of their xenophobic paranoia.
All the best to SA elections.
