And, who funds this 'pwani si kenya' characters. M7, Kikwete or/and Bashir? I read mischief with this group!
M7 is very unhappy with this LAPPSET. Do you even remember that TZ tried to construct a road in the middle of a very important Wildlife migration corridor, just to make the Dar - Kampala Route shorter!
East African Community is just full of hypocrisy just like ODM. Visit jamiiforum a TZ version of wazua and you will notice Kenya been discussed in each and every thread!
We all need each other, at the moment Kenya has a upper hand because it has more established manufacturing industry, better learned workforce and electricity output. Tz is a sleeping giant that will wake up someday to utilize its potential (arable land and minerals) , Uganda oil will enable it to be a jogoo at some point for a short while.......none of these countries on its own holds greater potential than the whole region combined. I have criticized Kibaki for long but I have got to admit, the guy has a vision and in 10 years time if you travel on a Kenyan passport abroad, you wont have to hide it like we do today. Kenya will be one great place

IT is a question of who delivers first. this does not make economic sense. why do you need 2 pipelines? or they learnt from the Khartoum incident?i.am.back!!!!

Thanks @dunkang for pointing me to Jamii forums. Wah!! Guys have bile against Kenya. It is impossible to go through two threads without seeing Kenya mentioned negatively. Great men are not always wise, neither do the aged understand judgement...

Remember, S Sudan will foot most of the cost for the pipeline and fibre. They will pay Kenya for using the transport route the infrastructure will role over. Am not seeing anything shortsighted about such arrangements. Kibaki is simply a genius. "One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Rev Canon Karanja.

Kenya will be one great place . After the 2007/2008 madness, M7 decided (rightly) that he needed an alternative to the Kenyan route for his economy. He has made it clear that Ug will be exporting refined petroleum products and the refinery will be in Ug (makes econ sense) and has also brought DRC to his side with this argument. The gov't of Ug has put stake on the construction/expansion of Tanga port as well. Why KE has not even built a road connecting SS remains a puzzle. The success of the Lamu port depends on its timely completion in that its more strategically located to connect SS, Ug, Eth, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi etc. The enemies of this project are many Ug is just one of them. Uncle Sam is not too impressed and is thought to be bank rolling the locals opposed to the project.

I think the reason why KE had not built road linking SS is simply because the northern KE itself didn't have roads, hence LAPSSET. On Uncle Sam, why is he against?

Museveni saw what happened during the post election violence in kenya. He had to find another route for goods in and out of UG and he was right about that. Kenya saw an opportunity to connect it's neighbouring countries with it's LAPSSET and they are right about that too because they would have lost some export/import traffic to the rival corridor. So, why would Museveni complain when it's all about protecting and promoting economic interests something he does also.
