South Sudan has signed agreements with UG,Kenya,Ethiopia for oil pipelines. Are we going to spend all this money to connect pipelines to South Sudan and build expensive refineries in Lamu only for SS in the future to change its mind as they wish.Remember there is already the pipeline through N.Sudan with refineries infrastructure already set up.I think N.Sudan will have to at some point eat humble pie and agree to whatever conditions S.Sudan gives them. Some revenue is better than no revenue at all for N.Sudan on infrastructure that has already been build. We are talking of only 0.5m barrels a day.I think we have to be very careful and stop rushing.

The costs for the project will be shared by the 3 states. The pipeline laying costs will be borne by S.Sudan which will then pay Kenya govt annual fees for the pipeline.

is Kenya assisting with fibre optic in return?

Kibaki can send Raila? Is he snr to him?

Kibaki also sent Raila to South Sudan to prepare for the unveiling of Lamu port later. Would you ask who is senior to the other? The one who controls the armed forces is superior anytime. In other words, Amolo's position is like that of the British Queen.

Apparently Southern Sudan has signed contracts with three countries including Uganda for oil pipelines. Uganda route should connect with Tanzanian port. Kenya is competition. IT is a question of who delivers first.

yes this is one question i have been having.South Sudan has signed agreements with UG,Kenya,Ethiopia for oil pipelines.

@Itz,

Our kilindini harbour is already overstretched. If exports and imports have to wait for weeks to be loaded and offloaded then we have a problem. The port cannot take super liners. The demand for port services is growing at a rate of 10% per annum. Whichever the case you need triple the capacity in 5 years time.

I hear Kibs had to send RAO to reassure M7 that there is no plot to sideline him. Fellow had been sulking in a corner over the perceived slight.

Don't you know how much UG is going to lose when the superhighway, fibre optic and oil pipeline evade going through UG. M7 has a right to feel betrayed but something can be done from Isiolo or Turkana, that is why he wanted to be included in the whole deal.

...i tend to think that efficiency is the problem at the port even when looking to increase capacity..
.......i remember a few years back when large cranes were brought in... nothing has changed since.

......we should critically be looking at sorting out laziness at "pwani si kenya...."

Kwani museveni anataka nini? It doesn't make economic sense to build a pipeline running through UG to TZ and it's just proper that it passes through the second shortest route-that is through Kenya. Alafu tena, kwani port ya lamu, superhighways, railway lines, fibre optic cable, airports and resort cities huku Kenya zinamuhusu nini?

Yani there are people who still think Raila is an equal to the president! u don't remember the business of 'Appointing official'. if they were equals both would have been presidents or prime ministers.

RAO is a very big piece of a looooooser!

And, who funds this 'pwani si kenya' characters. M7, Kikwete or/and Bashir? I read mischief with this group!

M7 is very unhappy with this LAPPSET. Do you even remember that TZ tried to construct a road in the middle of a very important Wildlife migration corridor, just to make the Dar - Kampala Route shorter!

East African Community is just full of hypocrisy just like ODM. Visit jamiiforum a TZ version of wazua and you will notice Kenya been discussed in each and every thread!
