My forecasts are EPS at 3.57 with DPS at 1.65.

This EPS forecast is way too high. Given KCB's Q3 earnings, I project an EPS of about Kshs 2.89, however it could fall within a range of Kshs 2.80 - 3.00. DPS will most likely not top Kshs 1.50.

In Equity's case EPS will come in at about Kshs 2.63 (range from Kshs 2.50 to 2.70). Given Equity's past dividend payout history, I expect DPS to be between Kshs 1.00 to 1.20.

Mwanahisa you were saying? It even outperformed my forecasts with EPS at 3.72 and DPS at 1.85. Fantastic results but got a hunch Equity will blow this out of the water smile

Kudos @GGL, You were certainly a lot closer than my estimate. I stand corrected, but as a shareholder, I will happily eat humble pie as I book my holiday with the expected dividend cheque (on the windfall above my Kshs 1.50 projection).

Do you honestly believe Equity can surpass PAT of 10.9B or better yet PBT of 15.1B?

Over the last 2 or so years, its certainly looked like that. In the days when EBL were sure they were top or had extraordinary growth in their profits they were very quick off the blocks.

As for a PBT of 15.2 B, this will be a very big ask for EBL. It implies that Equity will have made 5.8B in Q4 after doing 9.4 for the year to Sep-2011. It is of course possible but will be a tough act.

Note that KCB made just about 6B in Q4 but you will have seen the huge spike in KCB's other income in Q4 - upwards of 2B. I am guessing that most of this were writebacks against provisions or Bad Debts previously written off. KCB of course has a far greater stock of Bad Debts/Provisions than Equity. So EBL may not have that kind of ammunition. All the same, let's wait and see what James pulls out of his hat. BTW, I am in both so I earnestly hope he can, but ....

I am a Member, but, the KCB results have just made my membership life painful. I was in South Sudan for 4 months and i concur KCB roars in the region outside Kenya.

Otherwise, i see King James declares everything and exposing himself to the parliamentary committee on the USD/KES saga!!!!

Last year, Equity was meaner, and would try to out do their many rival KCB.

So,

Equity: Div Yield 6%! (at 19/- share price)

It's 1.14 for member you mean?
