I believe tomorrow 1st March is the D-day for the announcement.

While waiting for the actual numbers my prediction is

KCB 1st & final dividend 1.75 bob
Equity 1st & final dividend 1.20 bob

In terms of dividend growth relative to FY 2010, I give it to Equity Bank.

To avoid disappointment I have lowered my expectations to 1.5bob for KCB..

I do not follow equity bank but I believe it is starting from a low base in terms of dividends..These two companies earn more or less equal profits but KCB will dish out much more to shareholders by a whooping 1billion kshs more than equity bank according to your estimates..

Again according to your estimates Equity has a lot more work to do to catch up with KCB in terms of dividend yield..

If barclays gave a special dividend why are these two banks so greedy not to give back?

Because Barclays has stagnated and has no need for the cash while KCB and Equity are circling the whole of Eastern Africa opening subsidiaries for which they need capital..

KCB Group pays out almost 50% of net profit as dividend. That is generous enough.

My forecast for KCB: PAT Sh8.3 Billion, EPS 2.81, Dividend to be hiked by 50% to Sh1.75-2...might suprise with a rights issue.

@ Deal - KCB have already done two rights issues. I doubt they will do another one soon.

I feel the need to counter this post with my own forecast..
KCB: PAT sh 8.9 Billion, EPS 3.02, Dividend to be hiked by 20% to Sh 1.5-1.6... will definitely not have a rights issue..
