C & P
WENGER TO STAY We'll begin with the news that Arsene Wenger has been given the unequivocal backing of the Arsenal board and Stan Kroenke AND has money to spend in the summer. £50million to be precise.
The Daily Mirror is saying that Wenger won't be sacked before his contract runs out in 2014, even if the team misses out on Champions League qualification.
Arsenal's season has imploded within the space of a week (again) with fourth place the only real battle the Gunners have left. Despite the board's support for Wenger, significant investment is also seen as a must.
So who will they get? Well, the listed targets include Lukas Podolski, Junior Hoilett and Matias Suarez - Anderlecht's Argentine striker who is the current top scorer in this season's Europa League.
Some of Arsenal's predicted £50million-plus profits have also been earmarked for Robin van Persie's new deal and a contract extension for Theo Walcott. The club's former manager, George Graham, isn't convinced RVP will want to stay, however.
Graham said, "I don't think Van Persie will stay. This will be his last big contract. I think he's 28 and will be looking for a four or maybe five-year contract."
"It's a lot to ask Arsenal to pay that knowing for the last two years he's not been a regular in the team."

Chelsea lose 3:1 to Napoli. Tough times these for English teams. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Please note that they have been resting at least one of their striking trio before the CL games, contributing to their 10 draws, joint highest number of draws with Juve, Cagliari and Atalanta. The best they can do is try for 4th CL spot which can give them hope of keeping Cavani - Hamsik signed an extension to 2016 but Lavezzi is definitely leaving (wish he could come to Man Utd) and Cavani has been slapped with a $40M price tag, only affordable by Roman or the sheikh, more likely the later. Anyway, back to the game, Napoli could have easily won 6-0 had Cannavaro not made the clearance blunder allowing Mata to finish, had Cavani scored his sitter in the first half and Lavezzi scored 2 chances later, one cleared off the line by Cole. I am sure as the sun sets and rises that Napoli will score at least a goal at the Bridge, making it hard for the Blues. Napoli through to the quarters for me. Real could have had a CR7 hattrick in a -15 degrees Luzhni stadium but CSKA forced a draw with the last kick of the game. Again, Real should see off the match at the Bernabeu. So today Basel face Bayern - how I wish we had gone through. Bayern have slipped in performance and we'd have had a better chance now than when the tournament begun when Bayern were in CL final contender form - now, Barca and Real are the clear favourites.Oh well, Ajax in Europa it is BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!

....Enyewe Chelsea needs divine intervention, just can't put a finger on whats going on, the only player we have had for a very long time is Mata the rest don't have an adjective for them. I think we can get the work done at the bridge, if the gods are on our side.If we win Napoli next year we will have Cavano on our ranks, i don't see him going to City balotelli, Tevez,Aguero who will make way for who here. Italy have relinquished the 4th champions league spot and this has been given to Germany now, so unless Napoli win then no CL for them next season. Well am no-one to gloat but i see Chelsea pipping Arsenal for 4th spot their recent form not with standing and mentally am darn sure the team has disintergrated to pieces. This years CL is for Mourinho's to loose!! The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

I'm fully aware of what Arsenal's problems are but i think Chelsea are more disintegrated than the gunners.....Players such as Cole, Drogba, Lampard, Essien, Mikel and Malouda are not as sharp as they used to be in previous seasons. I think at the moment its only Mata and Sturridge who always look like changing the game. Your defense is also not as formidable and its not about to get any better now that Terry has been ruled out for 6 weeks. Several teams are fighting for 4th spot but i feel 3rd spot is also achievable for any of them. Spurs are ten points clear but then again they face Arsenal, Man Utd, Everton and Chelsea in the next 5 games....their only home game will be against SAF's men. They also seem to be struggling with on and off injuries at the moment so i think there's a lot to play for.

Football is my passion. you two should work together... This sounds like a diss but I'll let it slide. Anyway, watched the highlights and Basel took the game to Bayern, could have been 3 up after hitting the upright and Neuer made a super save that was cleared off the line. But Bayern were made to rue some the missed chances they had, Ribery and Gomez coming close. This Basel side is impressive, they're playing without fear or pressure - I won't be surprised if they get something at Munich in the return but that will be quite a shocker!Bayern are not the force they were at the start of the season, that's why I feel we'd have had a chance against them. Couldn't care less about the Marseille Inter match up but the former were deserved last minute winners. Those two wins can be easily overturned in the return fixtures BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!
