Perhaps we as Africans in the 3rd world sell ourselves short, I just looked up the list of countries listed by suicides per 100,000 people per year, just like the economy list, we are nowhere near the top! If ever you needed metrics of how content people are - that's one of them.

We are doing well in that angle. Someone said that the reason africans were so good as slaves is because we feared death and would do anything to stay alive!
