Ladies and Gentlemen, what are Wazuans investing in? If you don't mind sharing, where is your money? I am just analyzing like what is most attractive out there to invest in. You may quantify by a % or even Ksh/$$ value of your total investments. Also if you can show the Rate of return to date that would be awesome.i.am.back!!!!

Just as in the world out there, whenever Warren Buffet goes for a stock, it tends to attract more investors. Don't be too negative a guy.i.am.back!!!!

Well let me give it a try. I started investing in December 2009. So far I have used the stock market, money market funds, mutual funds(i walked out of this in January this year) and bank CDs. So far I have suffered massive loss on the stock market with my investments; (I have only received back 3.5% in form of divideds and capital gains) since then. My money market fund is quite good. I am using two companies for this plus of course my old SACCO. I have not yet entered real estate. I tried it some 6 years back but I was conned by a colleague and I suffered a loss of about 45% since I had to compromise and settle the case out of court (I managed to get very little back). Until they reform the real estate/land sector, I am very shy about buying houses, plots and agricultural land. Keeping it all in the family

@harrydre, is it likely your question is null and void?
It would be pretty difficult to differentiate between four billionaires who separately made money from stocks, or bonds, forex, or property - except that they excelled in their craft.
So the big question is: What investment vehicle have you mastered?

@harrydre, I only invest in businesses. My possibly faulty rationale is equity/property/forex/bonds all coalesce in time into a business, which expertly owns/manages/runs these asset classes.
So for example Centum (holding company, property, equity) or Jubilee (property, bonds) or Standard Chartered (forex) etc. And business are normally denominated in stocks.
Now most in Wazua know the easy rules for investing (not speculating) but the problem is the discipline. It is so easy to get distracted when a 'pretty lady walks by' (easy money) - it takes 10 years to become really good at something.
The basic ideas of investing according to Warren Buffett are: 1. look at stocks as business 2. use the market's fluctuations to your advantage 3. seek a margin of safety.
...and a hundred years from now they will still be the cornerstones of investing

and to add on to #12... look at stocks that have 1. Aggressive growth 2. Growth and income 3. Momentum 4. Value
