The NSSF, Government and IMF are in talks to review the amount we contribute to NSSF. NSSF has now been converted to a pension scheme. The new scheme is ambitious and hopes to maintain the lifestyle of employees even after retirement. As it is, some of us are already in Pension schemes with contractual arrangements. The Government takes 30% in taxes, my Pension scheme 10%, NSSF may demand another 10% and if Nyongo has his way, another 3 -5% of my income will go to NHIF. 55% of my pay will not pass through my hands. Remember workers in the western world are already being warned that there might be no money when they retire despite their contributions.
