@Cde - with elections ard the corner, that's biting too much risk trusting my small KES holdings with gok. A blue chip with a decent dividend would get that tbill fund.

Speaking of tbills, I can see the rates are silently slipping in droplets just like inflation. The other day BD had an article on CBK warning about loom food shortage due to frost bite. Now the tbill rate or inflation rate tug of war here is going to be painful & cbr too is caught up.
Btw didn't know KE has frost bite issues... Does it snow these days?

@hisah If GOK goes down all blue chips will crumble & down with it..

GOK is the independent factor while blue chips are the dependent factor..

@guru I must commend you for your keen eye & position in Jubilee HL. It is only yesterday with the partial commisioning of 25MW that I learned they are involved in the 250MW Hydro Bujagali Dam in UG..Kudos..now that's how to invest Surplus & Pension funds! Enjoy.

@hisah it is well with me for us to scorch under Q1 sunshine in exchange for drenches in Q2..let the seasons play out as they should. Frost is a given - hot days, cold nites.

Frost happens every year in Jan - March and September in the leeward side of the Aberdares.

Morning of 2nd Jan was bad enough to kill tree seedlings, the worst in many decades, reported even in areas that do not have a frosting history.

If u have idle cash in the short term, TB investment stil remains as a better investment option and more so if ur bank is not willing to negotiate higher rates 4 th same. NSE stil n will continue 2 remain unattractive until post election BUT MOSTLY when th eurozone crises is resolved

KE inflation forecast by an SA bank - they expect inflation rate at single digits by Q3:2012. Let's see how it plays out as 2012 unfolds...

I expect inflation to remain in double digits in 2012.

March-May rains maybe on the light side. Oil is under pressure from the Iran thingy. I also expect general election related money supply... I however have a bet with somebody that the inflation will be "adjusted" again. Downward ofcourse

BD had an article about IMF having 'issues' with the current inflation model. The same IMF that recommended a change (fudging of the model) back in Feb 2010 is now saying that their recommendation was not good enough. Absolute horse sh**

I too expect the inflation model to be 'tweaked' yet again to hide the KES devaluation as money has to be printed to fund the elections.

Inflation at single digits this year even if it rains from today till 31/12/2012 can only be achieved by fudging the inflation model again.

Was looking for info on how to purchase t-bills without the hustle of going to cbk (for special cds a/c opening & filling in the forms) since I work far from town. Found a solution with cfc stanbic, all I need to do is open an account with them and request them to purchase the t-bills for me,the money gets debited from my account. They charge a commission of 0.139% they say. Anyone using them?

so Coop robs me with 1%?

[quote=Nabwire]Hisah unfortunately, I am not based in Kenya and the NSE has very limited info BUT I am going to buy KK, KCB & Kengen. Just looking at it from a contrarian investing point of view, these stocks should have decent returns.Granted the NYSE has a more fluid/ greater turnover than the NSE so I realize it could be harder to get decent returns in a short time.Hisah you are a trader, so our time frames are different plus you know the entry/ exit points, alot of your followers dont, lets wait and see.

Its not end of March yet, a week is an eternity in the stock market. Anyhow, Bank of America is now trading at $9.85, I forget how much it was trading at at that time, I think thats when it was sub $5 right?? Anyways it has given me great capital gains yet we are only getting started. I sold of my stake in Moneygram and instead bought Fannie Freddie. Eastman Kodak is trading OTC, not much action expected from it until after the lawsuits are settled. On the other hand, how are the Treasury bills' rates? I dont hear much chest thumping anymore so im guessing the rates adjusted downwards?
