That was the beauty of the PEV. It was also the the difference between a Jaluo attack and a Kikuyu attack. Jaluos attack without first securing a safe haven. A kikuyu clears the safe haven before attacking.
A kikuyu hates someone who pretends not to be an enemy. He prefers an enemy who behaves like one.
So, given an option, a Kikuyu would work with a Kalenjin anytime than work with someone who is trying to destroy him secretly.
By the way, didn't you know that the friend of my enemy is a worse enemy?
Also note that Kaleos had gone back home much earlier before PEV. So, it was also an issue of getting my enemy's friend who was within the territory.
