Hi Wazuans. I'm looking for a brand of honey that is pure, unadulterated and free of additives. Apart from Eco honey from ICIPE, are there any other good brands in the market?

Go to the villages and ask the person who has local beehives. Sit with him and tell him your problem. You will get it in abundance and you will be suprised at the good quality

I have found the 'Greenforest' brand to be quite good.

Depends on how much you want but the best starting point is via Kenya Beekeepers Association and / or African Beekeepers Ltd (ABL)

Both will give you a list of their members and you can contact them directly & place your order.

Kenya Beekeepers Association/National Beekeeping Station Telephone: 020 564302, 31228

I have always assumed that Kenyan honey is 100% pure. I cannot see any business sense in adding anything to a substance that is already very sweet and self-preserving.... and costs almost nothing to manufacturer!

Some people think that suppliers add sugar to honey. Well, I have no evidence to prove or disprove that; but I would think that any supplier adding anything to honey is an idiot... the stuff will cost you more if you tray to put additives!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Check at Ministry of Livestock along Ngong road (next to Lenana School. They also sell soap made from bees wax. Very natural, cheap and mild to the skin.
Lord, thank you!

Some kamaas used to pack molasses and label it as grade 1 honey from masaku.

I like honey and use it on a daily basis- however, where i am at the moment,i cannot get real honey.....

If you want to know if honey is adulterated, put it on the kitchen counter,if ants converge around it,throw away the concoction,it is not pure honey.

If you have trouble ( as in kwako hakuna ants) put it in the freezer, real honey does not freeze

Most of the products in the shelves are not real honey - unfortunately
