low energy bulbs

esteemed members of s.k,i recently acquired a shipment of 60w energy saving bulbs for a biz partner in U.G but the deal fell through.Now needless to say am somehow stuck with a sh1tload of bulbs that i need to offload sharpish.

my question is,what other ways would be good in shifting them? i've considered putting out a tender in the newspapers but costs would be prohibitive.
The shipment is currently waiting to be shipped out of u.k.

any helpfull advise welcome.

aren't energy saving bulbs are usually below 20watts (even as low as 3w)?

are you sure that you bought the low energy saving lamps....coz if you didn't you have been conned big time...i am not aware of any low energy lamps that go beyond 32 watts compact fluorescent lamps....unless of course you are using the 60watts in a multi harness fibre optic light generator...

I got some samples of which am actually using some in the crib and i have bought stuff from those guys before i.e we have a relationship so they cant con me.

The wattage ranges widely and 60 watts do exist.could only get a link on ebay tho thats not where i got them from.

Please take note of what those who have posted before me are telling you if you are to sell these bulbs.

OSRAM-DULUXSTAR-11W-(60W)

The above is part of the link you have given below (and should be what is indicated on the bulbs) which means you have 11W compact flourescent (energy saving) bulbs and the bracket shows you the incadescent equivalent.

Are they daylight or soft? E27 or B22? Make? Can they retail at close to/less than Ksh 245 (that's the competing price for Phillips at Uchumi)

The make is OSRAM model DULUXSTAR.

Soft (warm white) 2700k and bayonet screw fit.

They are A-rated for energy efficiency and use only about 20% of the electricity consumed by a conventional incandescent or tungsten filament bulb. This is just 11 watts,but with a light output equivalent to 60 watts. They also have a very long life of 10000 hours,lasting 10 times as long as a conventional bulb...or so they say.

They will definately retail at much less than whats out there.

OSRAM cant afford me:)

There is about 10k units and will reluctantly take ksh 170 per piece if the whole lot goes ...which would be the ideal situation.

The papers today reported that KPLC are about to put out a tender for these things. Maybe you can look for insider there to give you the low-down...

Why did you buy the bulb in Britain? They just import them from China,slaps on a label,and sells it to you several folds over ... here is where to buy them from in China: http://www.alibaba.com/c...escent.html?searchweb=Y



If not shipped,why can't you cancel the order? It might be easier because you cannot possibly compete at the retail/wholesale level with that kind of procurement.


If unable to get out of the contract,beware very few folks understand about energy saving bulbs and you may want to retail at the niche markets of UN,embassies, international hotels and you may want to bundle it as a service.... (Hire a few guys to change bulbs,after presenting your research that,just in energy savings,the bulbs will pay for themselves in xxx months)


To ALL: Homework; study and get familiar with http://www.alibaba.com/ it will do magic to your budget,and consequently your family/hood/nation ... lets shy away from exploitative / useless British /snobbish handouts aka cosumers to Kenya at insane prices,for things they never made in the first place
