Atleast this ruling by the judges supports a similar thought I had on a blog entry -that in a normal situation the election date should be determined by IEBC. It's unfortunate that it may turn out to be a political issue.

Judges' ruling wrote:
The judges also ruled that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will be the body to determine the exact date.

blog wrote:
The actual dates or this upcoming election are still under contention. The newly ratified constitution requires the election to be held in August while some people (in government and other associated organizations) argue that the election can only be meaningfully held in December 2012 or later.

One would expect that the day elections are to be held should not be a matter of debate in the magnitude we are currently witnessing. The relevant election organizing body (IEBC) should be able to make the final call on the issue after undertaking their planning exercise. Anyway, that is theirs to deal with.

When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

mutahi on twirra continues to say....

If there is a run-off we have no president till April 2013. Section 142(1) of new constitution is suspended by 2(1)C of the 6th Schedule

I'm for good, well planned elections whenever the date and at least the Hague tensions would have cooled down.

I think RO would be the biggest loser if elections are March 2013 as he's losing numbers with every passing day.

...you had to say that based on the findings of the jackpotter friend of mines opinion polls.....ask yourself why none of the major papers carried the same!!!

I thought the story was in Nation, the Majorest of them all.
