Merali has the right of ownership, he can keep his stake or sell it. Other companies have little stake which he owns these other companies. Like any other investor would do, Merali is doing it.
Are you watching what Equity Mwangi is doing?? Offloading his stake, not because the company is bad.. NO! Its only that the company could have costed him 2.5 and he is selling some to diversify to what most wealthy people and companies are going to... REAL ESTATE.
Sasini is a good company on its own... you can make 30% then pull out and come back again at 30% discount.
DON'T FALL INLOVE with a stock, JUST TRADE IT!

@Yaserbigchair, his right not despited how he uses his right is the issue... compare to Mwangi... Mwangi gives himself and other shareholders value.....Merali takes it all for himself, case in point firestone/sameer... while i agree one shouldnt get in love with a stock but trade it, i also think the majority shareholder has a responsibility to ensure value is created and maintained as in the case of Equity...Kenolkobil etc. As for Merali little can be said on the positive....... a lot more on the selfish said.

I also agree Sasini is a good company on its own, the majority shareholder is not based on his dealings in other companies which he controls.... the ball is in his court.....

Merali is not only selfish, he is essentric and myopic. How can he name a company after his rats i.e., Sameer is the name of one of his rat pets. Yana is the name of his daughter or something like that. The company is a public outfit and his family names should not be made into brands. They stink. They turn off customers. Imagine naming a tyre "Odhiambo"!
By inference, the man is all that Mr Phantom is not: an untrustworthy radical, divisive, too many enemies, a dictator, and a persistent liar...

merali was involved in the Uchumi insider trading saga. If he had the indecency to do that in Uchumi, I can only imagine what he does in his own companies.

Has no shareholder ever thought of taking him to court? Or he is not doing anything illegal but just 'ujanja'?

Time is coming when this ujanja shall come to an end... read Access Kenya,CMC etc.... single sourcing from only his companies at prices we all know too well.... Just look at the example of cables when he sold out and see what happened to shareholders without ujanja..... I believe firms associated with him are not doing that bad even paka....its all ujanja

Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

The one who brought Uchumi down was Kirubi... who owned a lot from it. He wanted more but was not allowed thereafter he offload his stake. But this was just one reason, the main being theft in the company stores, I used to be a shareholder in Uchumi before the meltdown. When I saw this coming I sold my stake before Kirubi made some loss and recovered through KQ skyrocketing. I had mentioned this long time ago.
Anyway, guys I personally love this dip in prices, I still have more cash and willing to buy some good dividend yield stocks ONLY!

@yaserbigchair, going by your logic, I infer that doom is about to befall KPLC now that DJ CK has dipped his hands in the stock in a major way?

Nice. Nothing like the thrill of the market they say. On Equity, it finally closed below 17 today. Last week it did an intra-day low of 16.5 but managed to hold steady at 17...
