Guys, I came across this website highlighting the cruel animal practices that are employed by KFC outlets in the west in order to ensure a steady supply of cheap chicken.
Please think twice before you rush to the nearest KFC in Nairobi to spend 500 bob on a poor chicken.

I don't know any other way of slaughtering chicken other than slitting the throat and dipping in hot waters to remove feathers. That is not cruelty. Tell that to the birds _literally.

OOOOHboy, have you noted how sharks in the ocean are ruthlessly eating other fish? And how those crocodiles mistreat wildbeasts as they cross river Mara? Don't we need to censure them to be eating only those that die naturally of old age. Heck, the government needs to employ the army to protect these innocent impalas, wildbeasts, hares, and tilapia from malauding lions, sharks, crocodiles and human beings.

I am very flabbergasted by your level of thinking.
Instead of creating awareness of how our fellow kenyan people people are in dire need of have food or the fact that our politicians are using them as bait for the 2012 elections and you post such a thread?
What do you expect me to do (separate me from the rest of the commentors), applaud you for your discovery?
You have stooped so low.
And shame on you on all of you that responded to that question without acknowlegding or even thinking about other Kenyans.
I want each and everyone to ask themselves this: ni nini unafanya kuhusu jambo hilo? kila mtu ambaye hatumzimgatii, ni nini kitachotendeka akiondoka?

From the responses to this post, I get the impression that some Kenyans are quite intolerant of other peoples views. All Perminus was trying to say is that KFC has been found to apply cruel practices in its mass rearing and slaughter of chickens. I do not see what that has to do with Kenyans going hungry or politicians using them as bait for the 2012 elections.
@jonna, how intolerant can you be? I thought that the whole point of wazua is to exchange views in a civilised manner. Why should you heap shame on someone just for airing their opinion?
As for me, I have yet to taste any KFC dish since I've never been a fan of junk food anyway.

Have you ever seen pigs being slaughtered? It would rank higher in cruelty than whats done to chicken in my opinion. I doubt that would affect me eating pork thoughsmile

Next time I will take Rat and rat, yes, the POISON, give it to my chicken so that it dies without slitting(sp) its throat. Ill still feed on it ma broda OTIENO.

Back in the days, mum kept so many of them, free range style. any visitor coming would send us chasing the chickens all over the compound, under the granaries and even under the chair where the Mgeni lady was sitting (thats how I got to know ladies put on red panties, but thats a story for another day)...

We would then slit the throat of the hen, put some container for the blood to drop (mum would cook the blood for us) and phew....only then would I be sure it would be a SOUP day.

Pray that it did not rain otherwise kukus know how to duck and you'd be very muddy before u catch it. Im honestly nostalgic.

I am also amazed at the response the original poster has received.

Someone even intimates that if the wild animals do it, humans too ought to. Amazing logic.

Proverbs 12:10
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

You can still kill it if you want but you don't have to do more to it than kill it.
