It's just an illusion, only confusion.

To run a High-speed train one must have a standard gauge railway track, which none of our tracks are.

When did KR ever lay a metre in Kenya apart from the coolies of the Tsavo man-eater fame and Magadi Soda? So how are we going to have one in two months if we have never done an inch in 100 years?

Journalism in Kenya is replete with intellectual bankruptcy and pitiful mediocrity.

Just a clarification (clearly writer & editor should have done this). The 1st modern railway station in the RVR era is almost complete at Syokimau. You can see it when you pass the airport heading to Mlolongo on your right just when the road splits into 4. Impressive building, with round blue roof.

However, there is no modern line or train or coach as yet. This is step one, next will be to build the modern line from CBD (upgrade station) to JKIA (construct new station) via this station. RVR got a $40 million loan in August, and Citadel did a $176 million rights issue in Oct, for funding of the modernization. Boarding will be more like 2015 earliest estimation...

How now? you dont want to expose the tracks to "haki yetu" long before they are put into use...

They are going to use the current track and the current locomotives to start using this station as they upgrade. Note that the station is next to the existing track of Nbi-Msa railway line.

The system will have passenger coaches with Multiple Unit technology which is more suited to commuter rail operation. The system being implemented will have a diesel engine that drives a generator producing electricity to drive traction motors in each coach.
