@accelriskconsult: All due respect, but I've also worked with Ms Ngige and I found her brilliant and would say she's one of the best financial managers I've ever worked with. You don't get to Senior Audit Manager at Deloitte without having excellent management skills!

@muganda & Mainat: Good insights, but I think Bill has as much to lose as Muthoka. The grapevine has it (not on full authority though) that there is some bad blood between the two stemming from a deal gone sour at GM. So Bill joins CMC and barely 6 months down he has unearthed a fraud? How could the auditors miss a surcharge of 300m per year? Wasn't Ms Ngige managing the CMC portfolio at Deloitte? Many questions unanswered!

Bottomline: The other directors are also seriously failing CMC shareholders by allowing Muthoka to be chairman while he runs Andy Forwarders. I wonder what impact selling all his stake at CMC will have for the business!

(1)Excellent management skills? Then the world must be ending. How long did it take her to be 'promoted' to senior manager in Deloitte? How many of her juniors became senior managers way before her? At least 4 of people who worked as assistants when she was already S3 overtook her.

(2) Could she make decisions? Why was she so scared of JWW?

Well I guess she has her admirers but I know for a fact that she was consistently rated as one of the worst performers in Deloitte.

The Plot thickens

Motor vehicle dealer CMC Motors has terminated the controversial contract with logistics company Andy Forwarders in an ongoing business restructuring program.
This comes hot on the heels of accusations that the logistics firm had been over billing CMC, putting a huge burden on its operational costs.
Speaking to Capital Business, CMC Motors Chief Executive Officer Bill Lay said the company tendered...(tharr be more) for new logistics providers where SDV Transami and Damco were picked.
“For a well run company, you should always tender for these things on a regular basis and have one or two suppliers in case there is a problem with one of them,” Lay said.
He said the decision to go with two logistics firms, with a possibility of a third, is based on the dynamism to leverage on credit extension facilities the two bring in helping in the clearing, forwarding and distribution of its imports.
“One of the facilities you need when you have a clearing and forwarding agent is that sometimes it’s a good idea that they can pay your taxes, import declaration fees and duties. There weren’t many of them that could provide Sh200 million in credit to allow you to bring in your products, that’s why we went for two,” Lay said.
Andy Forwarders, one of the largest locally-owned logistics firms, is said to have made improper billings to the tune of Sh2 billion to CMC. There were also issues of conflict of interest in that it’s Chairman and CEO Peter Muthoka was at the time the chairman of the CMC Board.
This led to his subsequent ouster as CMC chairman, sparking a new wave of boardroom wrangles as he seeks to regain control of the company. Andy Forwarders is the largest shareholder in CMC with a 24.7 percent stake.
Lay said under the current arrangement, SDV Transami will provide sea freight services while Damco will provide air freight solutions to CMC.
CMC imports more than 2,000 units of vehicles ranging from Mazda, Volkswagen, Range Rover to heavy farm machinery making it one of the biggest customers of logistics services in the country.
Lay said that the CMC management was also looking at finding new ways of reducing operational costs within the organisation.
The termination of the Andy Forwarders is likely to further fuel the boardroom tension that has gripped CMC. Muthoka has already called for an Extraordinary General Meeting seeking to have Lay removed as CEO as well the removal of three other directors.
The matter is currently before the courts after the Capital Markets Authority sought to block the EGM arguing it would interfere with ongoing investigations in the company.
A hearing has been scheduled for November 9.

I am going to support Paul Wanderi Ndungu over muthoka... Why? I like a guy who buys shares in his own name... Nothing to hide!

You have helped me decide which way to go. Thanks. i hadn't thought about it that way.

Also, I don't like the idea of Muthoka calling us for an EGM without a substantive motion. Exactly why does he want to remove the three directors? What fault have they done? And isn't there some audit being carried out?

Now you know where my vote is: against Muthoka. I had initially given him the benefit of doubt, but now I don't trust his motives.

Guys i just got inside information that the chairman for Andy Forwarders who is also in the board of CMC is the one buying shares of CMC and causing the price hike.

What can we say about this? I am sure there must be something good in this company thats why he is accumulating the shares, what can it be that we do not know?

Funky, thanks for raising the red flag. I investigated and discovered the truth, then ran like Eldoret Express going for a gold medal. I don't have any CMC share now. Was it Mukiha or MainaT who claimed he has been holding this share of an icon for the last twelve years? Brick wall

Live in parliament....Uhuru says he has a work permit issued 4 days ago. Bonny says this is drawn from political patronage.??? CMC ni ngege moto kweli
