Shopping in Uchumi is a big mess

I have complained a thousand times to team leads in sarit and westlands uchumis. Whenever i pick somethng from the shelf, i always find a different price when i go to pay. Everytime, a grinning cashier apologizes..team leads appear sorry bt nothing changes. I rem once i was looking for toys in aga khan walk. 4 different attendants sent me to 4 different places..till i insisted that i be led to the team leader for help. How come i dnt get such problems in nkmat or tuskys? For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being-Acts 17:28

Like I said many months ago; it was a mistake to retain that Ciano guy. Even God did not allow Moses to set foot in Canaan. Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Today, i picked some toys and snacks. Going to the counter, the price doubled and made noise bt all the cashiers did was apologize with wide grins. Last wk, i picked a razor labelled 175 or there abt. Going to pay, it became 290, even their baked bread/scones, its price reads 60, bt when u pay, its 70. Thats sarit. Westlands. Dont even get me started. I'd rather deal with tuskys rude bt guys who thou rude, knowr what is where & at how much instead of polite bt clueless uchumi staff. Nakumatt/naivas are the places to be..in my view. Bt uchumi! Argh For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being-Acts 17:28

The trouble is that most shoppers do not counter check prices of their purchases at the till.

I have a slightly different problem with Uchumi. I once bought a DVD at Ngong Road and the price at the till was LOWER than the shelf price. Being a good shareholder, I fired off an email to customer@something and they actually responded and promised to fix the matter.

@ Ali you seem to be doing quite a lot of shopping nowadays ....Anyway the last time i stepped into an uchumi supermarket the items had a kilo of dust. I just left the trolley there and headed elsewhere. Ive never been back since and that was like 5 years ago. “People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.” ― Walter C. Enyewe @ali you are shopping too much nowadays Anyway, I have had issues with Uchumi too especially ngong hyper: no price labels in their items. I have complained enough times. To make it was the attendants are so few, you are on your own

I have given up on Uchumi. The other day i went to Ngong Hyper and was buying electronics and i wanted them tested, There was no one to help, i was told the guy responsible for that section had gone for lunch, i was given an option of waiting or coming back later. i just went to Nakumatt next door.

Ama you eat them with the snacks? Don't get upset, please. Am just asking because, if you do not know, ask and you shall be told. Perhaps people should write directly to the CEO: jciano@uchumi.comNothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

On a positive note, happy that they've re-introduced the brown paper bags that give me nostagia of shopping in early 90's. Better than jualas.

@insurgent True, I do shop a lot for toys. They are for my kids. I have a whole garage of Vehicle toys for my son. Infact, I even go to Gikomba and Donholm purposely for the toys. The supermarket ones break in days but Gikomba ones last very long. Donholm’s also last long. For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being-Acts 17:28

I have a thing with Uchumi....I always find myself shopping there with all the dusty stuff, disorganized stuff, veges all over the floor, milky milk parkets, scrambling to get mandazis at Agakhan walk, etc. I think it’s the polite service offered by the “rare” clue less staff.

I hate going to Uchumi... Poor lighting... No air conditioner and inside too hot. I want to be a millionaire.
