Just strictly out of curiosity, what would ya'll guess Mike Sonko's net worth to be?

How much money does it take, cash-in-hand, to achieve "Sonko" status?

Best,

Hill

You need to be dishing out maybe like 100k/day to the youth and women.Another 100k/day to help a needy case or buy locals machines to start businesses. You gotta own more cars than you can remember too.

Above all,you gotta be in the import/export kinda business to keep things going that way.

Net worth?Must be very high. You have to spend like there is no tomorrow/budget.
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

So you are saying that there are two discrete spends, one for his own lifestyle, and one to keep the electorate happy?

The electorate spend... we'll call it promotional costs... do you think that is every single day, or only on days in which he is visible, out in the electorate, and on camera? On days where he is not out and about, do you think he still has promotional costs?

As far as cars, I've only seen him in the Silver E-class and the Dodge Ram Truck. That's about 4MM KSH in hardware. Of course, if you made it a business to import the cars, polish them up, and sell them, you could make a tidy profit whilst also having a "new car" every month.

A myriad of factors come into play while discussing individuals who no one is sure exactly what they do and the scale to which they do it. No one can come to Wazua and claim to know all revenue streams for such a guy.

But since Jason asked for a guess........Ksh 5B give or take.

Since he is not the mint, the next logical question for curious minds will be where is the stream from?

Ah, there is a hint.

I guess what I want to know is what kind of money it really takes to be a Sonko. I certainly haven't seen anything, in my opinion, that smacks of 5BB until I see a Gulfstream V with his likeness painted on the side. But maybe his employee costs are high, since he has a large crew.

My own personal guess is that someone could maintain the lifestyle with a net worth of 200MM KES. The promotional costs, however, if really 100K KES daily, would require about 400MM alone KES if principal is not to be touched. So that's 600MM KES, or $6 million dollars. Am I shooting low?

As far as where it comes from, that's not my business. Where does anything come from?

Best,

Hill

To conclude....nobody knows how much the guy is worth. Some big business men in Nairobi are worth more but they dont get the Sonko title. The title is given to you when you spend lavishly on people,as if there is no tomorrow.

5B is too high, its hard to tell for a Pharmacist especially for our sonko who is a errand boy for the real kings, i would place it at 50 to 100M and wont be shocked for it to be alot lower. His biggest asset would be what he knows about the said import/export business so the real import/export king pins have to finance his 'promotional activities' aka sonko lifestyle
our goals are best achieved indirectly
