i want to plant these pawpaw. Anybody who knows where i can get the seeds for planting or the seedlings and at what price.

I planted some 500 seedlings back two yrs ago. My friends were just laughing at me. My calculation was the total cost of preparing land transporting seedling and eventual planting was coming to 30ksh per seedling. Six months later i started harvesting. from my village a pawpaw goes for between 10 and 20ksh if i take the same to nairobi i get between 20 to 40ksh depending on size. Within my fourth sale i had recouped my cash and i still continue getting good money from it.

You can get seedlings from KARI near kangemi or you can get them from JKUAT and they will even advice you on the best way to plant and take care of them. if you are really a farmer you can also organise with KARI to come and monitor the progress of your pawpaws

at the time i bought a seedling was 10ksh and FYI just 17 seedlings turned to be male trees on headcount.

Next time I am planting I will buy from seed vendors or agricultural sites. I got like almost 50% male paw paw plants which just flowered but no fruits,when I tried to use my own seeds.

Very annoying.
