This is a simple job for a simple girl to be based in Dar-Es-Salaam...

A friend of mine is looking for an tutor for his 3 children (ages 3-11). You'll need to be familiar with the GCE system, have exceptionally good written and spoken english plus of course a heart to teach.

You'll also be expected to take on housework/chores (in equal measure).

If you're interested or know anyone who would be. Kindly drop your email in this thread.

Thx.

Hope it's not a job like one of those in Saudia where one comes back in a box.

@Gordon Gekko No, it's not.

@chalan, Robinhood, incognito...et al I can understand your skepticism, allow me to expound...

In TZ, being able to speak English fluently is a prized thing. Parents are now taking their kids to "English Medium" i.e. private schools. Those who can afford to pay more go for the GCE system in the hopes that their kids will pick up on the language along the way. Thus providing them with better opportunities for their future.

A private school still falls short because the children only get the chance to speak English in class - compare two students from TZ and Kenya and you'll see a world of difference.

This is where the need for a tutor comes in, someone who can not only help them with their homework but also keep them speaking and reading English.(BTW Primary School GCE subjects aren't difficult and anyone with a Kenyan High School education can hack this).

Since the kids come back home from school in the afternoon, it only makes sense for someone to also be able to help out around the house. (correct me if i'm wrong?)

Given our non-reading culture here in Kenya, it's a long shot - i know - but out there is someone who's good at English, can teach 3 small kids and is willing to humble themselves for a small while by helping out around the house. This opportunity is for such a person.

Lastly, it's important to remember that in life opportunities don't always come packaged the way we expect. Sometimes the flashy packages promise much but yield little, and the small brown paper wrapped packages promise little, but yield much.

So, having said this, who do you know who can benefit from such an opening?

Over to you.

My colleague's mboch is a form four leaver waiting to be admitted in the Public universities through JAB. She Scored B+ in KCSE and her parents are poor, so she works to support the family as well as get pocket money.
She is very good with the baby.

Yeah savant i concur regarding english in tz.Its not easy to get someone who knows english well. Most of them(housies) start being taught english in form 1 as a subject.
With all this in mind then you have to pay that kenyan lady well. Not anything below 500,000tshs.Having in mind that she is a tutor plus helps out in the house

I don't know if it's just me... but the idea of being a house gal/tutor here in EA seems a little strange(i know in Europe it works well i.e Aupair)

Why not separate the two and get a house help..to do the chores, and a real tutor to help the kids with English. Trying to kill two birds with one stone can sometimes be tricky....

I know of people who'd benefit from such.. lakini Dar is far to send someones daughter kisha ateseke.. *just saying*

SAVANT: I don't understand people sometimes. This idea of someone being in TZ or Kenya and their children are enrolled in GCE. Why not take the local curriculum?? Or they have an aim that their kids will go to a university in UK ?? What if the kid gets denied a visa?? I mean if you are chinese and live in china, why would your kids be enrolled in canadian curriculum school??
