VACANCY - HOUSE OFFICER

Guys anyone with a serious friend or relative who can seriously do the job of house officer (I detest the term mboch which to me is derogatory).

Job Description:

1.Looking after a young 10 month baby
2.Daily chores (Laundry & Cleaning the house)
3.Ensure that high level of cleanliness is maintained.
4.Feeding of the young baby.(Thrice a day and when need arises)
5.Preparing meal ingredients for preparation by the first lady.(Will only be expected to cook for the family in rare circumstances)
6.Looking after the home in the absence of the owners.
7.Any other duties as may be assigned by the employer.

Qualifications:

1.Smart and intelligent female.
2.Over 18 years with ID and other documents.
3.Not more than 30 years in age.
4.Passport photo of applicant.
5.Those with KCSE will have an added advantage.

Remuneration:

Starting salary of 3,000/= P.M

NB-This will be reviewed quarterly and will be commensurate with performance.

Benefits:

1.All meals provided for free (Breakfast/Lunch/Supper)
2.Free Accomodation.
3.Free Utilities.
4.Free Entertainment.
5.Off when needed and as possible.Should apply in advance.
6.Transport allowance.When job related travel is needed.
7.Reasonable and Considerate employers.


Terms & Conditions:

1.You are expected to be honest,open-minded and flexible in your thinking.
2.All Channels of communication are open.
3.Rudeness and other negative behavior will not be tolerated.
4.Termination of employment by the employee is through one months notice and pay will be received.Otherwise if no notice,pay will automatically be cancelled.

Your terms and conditions are void ab-initio because you are already breaking the law by offering to pay way below the KSh7,586 set by govt as the minimum wage for domestic workers.

Your domestic worker is also entitled to:
o A weekly break of 48 hours (note that this does not mean when they’re sleeping). Failure to grant the break means that you’re required to compensate the worker at the rate of 365 per day.
o You will be required to make statutory contributions for your employee (NSSF @200 per month and NHIF @ 320 per month
o Paid annual leave
o Also, that minimum monthly wage is exclusive of house allowance. You cannot therefore argue that you’re paying less because you’re housing them.

ALSO note that failure to adhere these rules could result in you being jailed for 3 months or fined 50k (or both)

@For Sport,@Gordon Gekko,@GGK.......please forward the laws you are quoting into the inbox at the provided mail..you seem to further notions of conformance to laws that seek to hinder job growth and promote unemployment,there are several forms of jobs that do and do not conform to "laws" not forgetting that you are in a third world country with 42% unemployment rate...

Also, read together with the Employment Act. A domestic worker is an employee like any other and is entitled to the same rights and protections as any other employee.
If you are going to conduct a public recruitment like this one, it should at least conform to legal requirements...

Try walking in someone else's shoes before you make statements like this one.
I'm thinking about the lowest paid workers in formal employment....what does the lowest paid government messenger, tea girl etc earn? Does it mean that they have to opt between remaining in formal employment and quitting work to babysit because they cannot afford to pay the minimum wage?

I suppose if you can get a house officer for 3000 per month you will do it, in the full knowledge that you are exploiting someone. I do not think I would do that as I would treat others as I would be expect to be treated myself. I would expect treating someone as a commodity means they will treat you and your family the same, and leave at the first opportunity for a few shillings more.

Are you not overstepping your mandate? It would seem to me that the first lady makes the calls about who to employ, the duties and at what rate. But then again not all republics are run like Rome.
