A guy like me does not have cash to cost average till the bottom so I have to rely on research and various indicators to shield my kidogo portfolio to losses....i call that risk management not market timing...for someone with a 10 year horizon definitely the current market weakness is a buying opportunity...I'm bullish on the long terms prospects of the Kenyan economy .the current crisis is just a lesson

That's a blip if you are a long-term investor with a ten year horizon... we survived the 1990's when interest rates went berserk so this too shall pass.

Mkono that is welcome news. A friend tells me that he made a tidy sum investing in t bonds during that period. What is your experience?

By the time i had enough cash the t bill was already down to 20% but i can give the experience of my dad who started buying t-bills in 1991 he keeps all the records it was insane he was earning upto 60%p.a. interest in 1993-94. he kept spending the interest instead of re-investing. In my experience this was a lost decade I can't tell any investment done over the period just living off the interest. My relatives who were still servicing mortgages really suffered 40% interest rates. KCB used to double profits even uchumi supermarkets major investment was in t-bills no expansion, no innovation. This t-bonds is just for lazy investors when the bubble burst you are likely to end up in the drain

How so?
You're lazy if your money is in the bank or with some mutual funds manager.

Cheers @Mkono for being a fore-runner and letting us younger ones know that there is nothing really new in this world. smile

Isn't this the time that banks announce their Q3 performance? With all the chaos in the market it might be easy to forget This is the time.

When i observed the bids and asks on kcb it was a sharp contrast with equity..yaani i tell you kcb might see 13 sooner than you expect, whats this kcb exodus about?.,i think kcb and bbk are being punished for inclining their profit more on forex.
