hi folks. have an option to buy either a commercial plot at kantafu market along kangundo road OR a residential one on the 2nd row of mombasa-malindi highway at a place called mvuleni market, just after rea vipingo.i can only afford one. buying for pure speculation. i understand iko bypass currently earmarked for construction linking athi river to ruiru/thika highway that will cut across kangundo road at kantafu area. also 2 airstrips are being put up there. the first airstrip is currently under construction. am also made to understand the nairobi show ground will be moved to this area in the not too distant future. kandundo road will be retarmacked next year if one Johnstone muthama is to be believed. regarding the mvuleni plots, they are near the rea vipingo golf ridge. kindly advice. na mnikaribishe wazua. have been peeping for ages. asanteni.

You can not go very wrong with either. If I was in your position I would buy the kantafu commercial plot. Commercial plots tend to grow exponentially as opposed to linear growth associated with most residential plots.
Kantafu will grow faster than rea vipingo but if the plot was in Kilifi Town I would think kilifi would grow faster. I have properties in both and kilifi has grown much faster. Rea vipingo doesn't have the same growth as prospects as kilifi or Kantafu.
If you do decide to develop the plot you have more choices with Kantafu compared to Rea where your can only build residential houses for the staff who will be working at the golf course and the return might be good given the scarcity of good accommodation in vipingo but I doubt it will beat Kantafu.
That said once you decide which send me an email and I will buy the other property which ever you leave!
Cheers
