@akowally,
Most saccos are profession based e.g
Mhasibu-Accountants
UNSACCO-UN Employees
LSK Sacco-Lawyers
Kenya Bankers-Bank Employees etc

"Best" could mean best in terms of dividend payout rates,service,loan amounts,projects e.g land,houses for members etc.

I would advice one that has several "projects" such as land reselling to members,housing projects etc.If you are an accountant Mhasibu is quite good.
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

@akowally,

There are many factors to consider before you can join a SACCO. The most basic is the common-bond. As noted by @ bird-man you need a sacco that is within your common-bond i.e what binds you with the sacco of choice. If you are an accountant, you are better of joining Mhasibu as you are likely to know many more accountants especially when you need a loan. The other factors are loan limits, duration of wait before you can get a loan and interest on dividends.

All the best in your search

Dont join Harambee if you dont want to honga for every service you want or be insulted by the staf or get your emergency loan after two months!Anyway try Maisha Bora,Mhasibu,Muramati they al have different awards in differnt categories be it best mananaged,best dividend payout among others.ooh and wanaanga a friend of mine told they paid 20% dividend i dint confrm ths though.Uchaguzi ni wako!But dont join Haras pleas they hav been bookd thrice for discusion in parliament but has never been discusd,they sold a prominent building in town that was bougt using members special shares and dint give them a coin.Its a diving craft

@Hunderwear

That's what I'm talking about. Thanks for the ideas.

@Simonkabz

Good to know you're still around.

Pole. Lucky me I started a thread on wazua about it so that I know better before I join.

@Lolest

I agree about the guarantors part. That's why now I am considering a church sacco. At least we'll all be knowing each other so won't be hard to get guys.

For those who wanted me to inform them how things are going, I have settled on NASSEFU Sacco. I have like 50 friends there and no one is complaining. The joining fee is Sh. 1000 then you need to contribute at least 2200 per month. The reason is that here it will be easy for me to get guarantors for a loan.

Happy saving.
