This was sent from a copy of a local daily. I thought it was good food for thought.
(For instance, who betrayed his colleagues in the Opposition and the country at large before and after the 2007 General Election? Let’s face the facts.
It was the Raila Odinga group, which in August 2007 shipped out of the original opposition Orange Democratic Movement of Kenya (ODM-K) and proceeded to buy out lawyer Mugambi Imanyara’s ODM that he had registered immediately after the 2005 referendum.
This was after the infamous “Nyundo” incident of Khadija Gardens in Mombasa.
Who then stuck to the original party and ideals and who did a routine political somersault and party hop?
It is noteworthy that five years earlier, Raila had led a similar exodus from Kanu when he realised he was not going to be the party presidential flag bearer.
Kenyans will for long be grateful to Kalonzo for choosing to join President Mwai Kibaki in forming a coalition Government thereby helping to put out the fire that threatened to consume this nation.
When did saving one’s own country from destruction qualify to be an act of betrayal? First, I remember someone saying “No Kivuitu No Elections” and “No Raila No peace”.)
